It came when a bunch of hipsters bought ataris in the late 00's and pretended to like playing them. I was one of them. The thing works like crap and the only game that consistently worked on it is the ET cartridge because no one ever uses it.

Op, I'm 35. I barely remember Atari, since I was too young to actually play it. If someone is actively trying to play Atari, they are clearly not from the generation it was designed for.

Iterations of Atari 2600 were still produced in early 90s after the fall of USSR, since relevant console of that era didn't reach post-soviet countries yet. Many slavs below 30 played Atari games as kids.
