Start with little, recruit peasants and train them up, stomp bandits, invest in businesses, trade goods from one city to another, join a nation as a lord and fight for them, win tourneys, conquer the land for yourself. You personally control your character on the battlefeild and give basic commands to your army.

No it's coming out Soon™, I don't really know what price it'll be. Play Warband to see if you like it, it's a great game with a shitload of mods and it goes on sale at least a half dozen times a year.
