Does /v/ play Battlefleet Gothic Armada?

Which faction do you use?
Favorite ship?
Favorite faction to fight against?
What's your chosen strategy?

Did they fix that horizontal camera bug yet?

Oh shit! I love Gothic! Never got why 2 was the only one with women in it, but I hope they flesh out the world a lot more this time. 2 was the best, it can be great again.

Fuck me had this the other day in a 20 minute MP battle against the orks.

Im losing my interest in this game because of this fucking RNG boarding mechanic

>ship about to warp out
>3 lighting strikes
>last one finally hits
>turret destroyed!
What the fuck
>Defeat

fuck assassination
>>
>>336293940
Imperials, Dauntless 1, Orks.
Ram the shit out of everything with space churches, beat greenskins at their own game.
>>
>>336294168

Yeah I thought a successful boarding action when they were warping was supposed to be an automatic cancel, but I had one that succeeded against a warping ship yesterday and it didn't stop it.

And yeah, assassinations need to have the timer extended a little. As it stands as IN you're pretty much obliged to take the engine upgrade if you want to be able to catch anybody but Orks in time for anything time sensitive like that.
>>
>>336293940
Would spamming sword frigates with AP shells work?
>>
>>336294168
>>336294338
the boarding action and warp cancellation are 2 different rolls on the same action
>>
>>336294214

Why not a Mark 2 so you can fill 'em full of torpedoes while you ram them?
>>
Are Necrons in this? I remember them being so hilariously OP in the original tabletop game that they were straight out banned from basically all games
>>
>>336294480
Personal preference, because that's the ship you start with in campaign.

Torps are pretty great, though.
>>
>>336294341
I prefer firestorm spam, myself
>>
>>336294648

Oh shit, I just looked and torpedos have an arming range. So it's not good to unload them right when you're about to shove your prow up their ass. There's a color gradient on the firing lines you get when you mouse over the fire button that shows the arming range.

I had thought torps seemed not to work well at point blank. I guess they figured ram+full power torpedoes would be too powerful, and indeed it might.
>>
>>336294535
Nah, not right now; they've got Navy, Chaos, Orks, and Eldar right now with Tau and Astartes on the way.
>>
>>336294909
This is why you unload before you ram, anon
>>
>>336294793
>>336294341

Firestorms are handy for dealing with Chaos and especially Eldar, but a Sword Frigate with range upgrade, targeting matrix and AP shells is the best escort in the game. Take 4 of them instead of a cruiser sometime, they're great for harassing and are surprisingly survivable. They're quick enough to keep up with Eldar for the most part and will continually pelt them with macros which adds up quick.
>>
>first time playing
>don't know what to upgrade
>>
>>336295020

Indeed, time to take another look at the Dauntless ramming hit squad.

>>336295035

addendum: while escorts themselves do not suffer insubordination, their loss WILL contribute to insubordination in your line ships. So keep that in mind. Frigate swarms are surprisingly effective even so, in fact it's how a lot of people in multiplayer are trying to cope with the Eldar.

post crazy meme fleets you encountered

>6 nova kannons
>full ork carrier battlegroup
>full Imperial navy cobra spammer
>SO MANY WARP STORMS HOLY SHIT
>just one saim hann void stalker
>admech BOMBS EVERYWHERE
>permanent gas cloud 15k chaos lancers
>nurgle shield transfer, overload brawler

Whats the craziest fleet you've e seen?
>>
>>336295207
honestly I don't even know how I would deal with Eldar without the microwarp or lances

slowly realizing all I ever do is either throw lance ships at things or close to ramming range as soon as I can

What unimplemented ships are you looking forward to?

>tfw Nemesis class Fleet Carrier
>>
>Losing turrets engines and generators left and right on all ships within seconds of contact
>Enemy loses a turret maybe through the entire match
One game I had a Tyrant with everything bar one macro destroyed but still at half health.

How do I critical component damage?
>>
>>336295046

If you're playing as Imperial Navy, the Mezoa Pattern Drive is a huge help because your ships are on the slow side (only Orcs are slower at cruise) and you'll be dealing with speedy Chaos and retardedly speedy Eldar. Not as important on Dauntless, but it's a big help on Cruisers and above. Many missions also require you to kill someone, or board them and escape, before THEY can escape and you only start with a few minutes to get to them. So closing the distance quickly is important, also true of getting your Macro broadsides into position as quickly as possible.

Micro-Warp Jump is super helpful for re-positioning and catching up to your speedy foes, and Taunt is useful for forcing them to turn and fight you rather than run away. All 3 are excellent tools for dealing with enemies that are generally much faster and more mauneverable than you.

Learn to love macro cannons, imperial macros are a beast. Lances are more situational. They always hit, which is nice, but they do low damage to shields and have a long refire time. You can upgrade their shield damage, but it's still no substitute for a good macro barrage.

Imperial ships have reinforced prows to soak up damage while you close the distance for a broadside, and it also makes them excellent for ramming. If you find yourself in close to the enemy, point yourself at them and burn the engines. Ramming does heavy damage and will knock them off course and often cause them to bind up against your ship, where they will then eat a full macro broadside at close range.

Torpedoes are excellent for damage (fired at the correct range) but just as useful for forcing your enemy to manuever. Fire a barrage, even a long range, and you can force the enemy to into lanes, or force them to slew about to avoid them, which means they're not going to be meeting you on their terms.
>>
>>336295337

Taunt is useful, it will force them to turn and engage you. They'll likely slow down, and then you can make them eat a macro broadside. Hit "Lock on Target" and make sure you have their engines targeted and you can ruin their fucking day. Flimsy space elves are also very vulnerable to boarding actions.
>>
>>336295771
Thanks
>>
>>336295424

Well you can get belt armor. That lets you ignore the first critical. Otherwise it's probably to do with who you're fighting; Chaos loves their lances and lances ignore most of armor and are (I think) more likely to cause a critical. Also boarding actions cause criticals, so invest in your ratings, or beef up the shields so they can't lightning strike as quickly, and stay out of boarding pod range. Just a few thoughts.

Is it even possible to defeat the Voidstalker in the hands of a halfway decent eldar player?

>their faces when
>>
>>336297879
as an imperial or ork in a 1v1? not likely but i mean its possible, even a competent player can make mistakes. i enjoy 2v2s more and for some reason, even if its 2 imperials v 2 eldar, the drop in eldar quality is noticeable. ofcourse thats not set in stone either, but go play some 2v2s and i think you might notice that either due to having to work together or facing twice the amount of enemy ships, eldar micro managing goes down.
>>
Tell me about your fleet, /v/.

>standard chaos fleet
>kiting with lance boats and carriers
>fighter screen to handle ordnance
>can tzeentch gas cloud permanently
>pocket nurgle carnage for mopping up

I generally do well against most fleets, especially against Orks and Imps. I have the most trouble with Eldar since holofields utterly disregard lances and my bombers can't get past their darkstar squadrons.

Fucking assassination

Are they going to fix it?

It's fucking shit
