Honestly, my hopes aren't high. After the shitshow that was the last three character releases, I'm not expecting any better. We might get lucky and get one crowd favorite, the rest will be straight shillin'. Similarly, I don't think we'll see more than one new character and a bunch of missed vets in the NX version if they decide to do anything with it, 'cause so far as I'm aware, Mashed Potato Samurai is on vacation still, and I doubt he'd let anyone touch his precious child without his prior approval, or having essentially left a five hundred page dissertation on how he wants to see fighters implemented.

We shall see. After Wii U, Nintendo are desperate; they need as many system sellers at launch as possible. New Zelda, new Mario, Smash in any form they can. Sakurai has time now and probably wants to get this generations's Smash out the way quick so he can focus on other stuff, so why not? Most people never bought a Wii U, so there's a market even for ports. But Smash for NX could simply be a base for constant DLC, rather than spending another 2 years building a new game for a potentially dead console.

To be honest, I think if we ever did get an Wars rep, the chibi soldiers would make for a better representative of the series.
People tend to think that Andy/Sami are the mascots of the series because Advanced Wars was the first in the series to come over here, but the truth is, the Wars series debuted all the way back in the Famicom days, long before Sami and Andy existed. The troopers have been in every game and are basically the mascot of the series. They even appeared in Captain Rainbow.

Retards, there aren't that many Nintendo characters created between 2014 and now.
Look at who was added in Smash 4. Characters that were either created around the time Brawl was released or afterwards like Rosalina, Robin, Lucina, Wii Fit Trainer, Shulk and Greninja. Existing older characters that were added like Lil Mac, the Kooplaings and Palutena were all in games that brought them back after Brawl released.
They don't have any major IPs left. Characters are going to be added when Smash 5 inevitably comes out, not some day one Smash NX port.

Gonna be completely honest with you here, I want the series to end. It started off with being a quirky and fun game to play with friends and mutated into this amalgamation of fanservice and competition where people get butthurt no matter what they do to the series or who they add to the roster. I personally was fine with the original roster; it was fucking huge. But now that we have downloadable content all the hype is wrapped around "this character should get in next because reason" instead of "thanks Nintendo for the opportunity to pit Pac-Man against Mega Man after all these years" and when they fail to deliver, the community takes a dump on it. I want this to be the last Smash Bros game and I want it to die with the Wii U when the NX comes out next year.
