It's awesome but Dark Souls Magic =/= Bloodborne Arcane
There aren't as many 'spells' in BB and they act as a compliment to weapons. There are only a few purely offensive 'spells' that I can think of off the top of my head and one of them requires like 45 arcane stat, but its a goddamn beast of a tool in battle.
Use it if you want to, but if you want to go purely arcane, you have to really get in to it

I wish Chalice dungeons weren't a thing and instead the game had an extra optional area or something.
I've probably only done about half of them and I already want to kill myself.

Nearly every tool is so useless or so situational that you'll completely forget you have them.
The only really worthwhile spell is Augur of Ebrietas, which just replaces a gun and has a hard knockdown property. So you're playing the game the same way as other builds but you have an item instead of a gun.

I'd say arcane is worth it, and pretty fun too.
Keep in mind that most "spells" are situational but they're very strong in those situations.
For example augur of ebrietas can repeatedly stunlock and backstab certain enemies, tiny tonitrus is good against anything weak to lightning. The flamesprayer can absolutely destroy paarl.
Just look up a guide, and don't expect to outdamage other builds and you'll be good.
