How's Nocturne combat?
I'm playing my first atlus game now (P3FES) and I'm interested in Nocturne mostly because of the atmosphere from what I've seen.
Is it anything like Persona?

The only ones there that are almost totally similar are IV and Nocturne
DDS you have set weaknesses that you have to work around by using Null spells, Strange Journey just gives more damage, and Persona's buff system works completely different, with One More being some kind of weird chinese bootleg Press Turn system
You can't say things are too similar just because in each game you are exploiting advantages to gain advantages

Instead of everybody in combat taking their turn in order of how fast they are, there is a distinction between your turn and your enemies' turn
You get an action for every demon you have out on your turn (four actions with a full party), and cycle through your party until you run out of action icons. You can gain more actions by hitting the weaknesses of your enemies. Doing this will cause an icon to start blinking instead of disappearing completely, which allows you to take another action, but the flashing icon will disappear the next action you take no matter what
Buffs and debuffs will always affect the entire party that they are used on, stay in effect for the rest of the battle or unless they are manually removed, and are stackable
