This right here is why DS3 is better than BB. You call having the ability to run through the entire game without getting hit "good". I feel sorry for you, having to play games at 20fps and at 900p must have fried your brain.
>>
>>336177476
You can kill half of them without the other half even turning around.

there is no other part in Bloodborne that has that many enemies all in one place.

they probably designed this part of the game like this to teach you a valuable gameplay mechanic: drawing out single enemies from a larger group.

just goes to show how amazing Bloodborne's level design is.
>>
>>336178165
The only exception is the run to smelter in Scholar of the First Sin.
>>

>>

Actually no, just BB
>>
>>336178519
True enough, but I don't mind it too much. Fighting all of the enemies every time you die to the boss sucks, I mostly just enjoy fighting them when I'm exploring it for the first time that playthrough.
>>
>>336178297
>running to smelly
>not just going up the ladder to get the belfry bonfire
>>
>>336178109
The point isn't that it's difficult, it's that it's a tedious part of the route at the beginning before you get the shortcut through the house. What generally makes people quit these games is the tedium, not the difficulty. What was probably happening to a lot of people was shit like

>fight through to the square
>kill all the dudes
>fight the giant without knowing how to parry, die
>go back and fight through the square again and die
>go back and fight through the square, kill all the dudes again and kill the giant
>die to the werewolves on the bridge
And so forth, where if you cut out the guys in the square by running past them it removes a huge amount of tedium. If you haven't played a Souls game you just don't know that there are instances where it's better to run past some enemies after you've established what the next area past them is like and how far they'll chase you. I think >>336178281 is right about why the square is in the game so close to the start, but I think it's also to weed out the new players who have no patience or don't understand how much mobility they actually have.

>>
>>336178713
That was my experience with it and I only got to play it for a couple hours, just ran past shit, because once you have no souls you don't care run to the next checkpoint or shortcut or whatever and then you can backtrack and get all the stuff you missed. BB really is different than souls that it feels longer between checkpoints unlike souls especially 3 where theres a bonfire pretty close by somewhere.
>>
>>336178935
It was the first time I ever recall it happening to me in DS1 i knew after that though.
>>
>>336178713
I usually make a point to kill the dogs and riflemen. Fromsoft's dogs are always total cunts, and being shot does a disproportionately large amount of damage.

You can do that in every Souls game though. In fact, it's muc more intelilgent than fighting every enemy.

I always run through the level picking up shit, die when I need to, then just not get hit by the boss. Use the boss Soul, you level up and you're good.

Yo never need to fight unless you're shit.
>>
>>336178489
How is it the best souls game? Really how? It dosent even have souls in its name, no sheilds, no magic, its nothing like souls. What you guys got was a spin off. A spin off that isnt worth shit with those loading times and fps.

No shields you can use reliably for every attack, you mean. There are two shields--one is great at blocking bullets, the other at blocking magic. You can't tank melee, though, and that's good.

>no magic
Not true. Arcane is really strong in Bloodborne. They just did the same thing with spells that they did with weapons: pared them down to 12 spells that cover most of the bases of what spells did in the Souls games, but without the bloat of six different types of Soul Arrow.

>loading times

The cane is my favorite weapon in the whole series, honestly. Its damage isn't great but I love its moveset and it's just so much fun to use.

>>
>>336179718
Don't feel bad, I watched my friend who was new to Souls games start BB. He got killed by the Scourge Beast in the clinic, somehow missed the weapons in the Hunter's Dream, also somehow didn't think to run past it, and died a gazillion times before just killing the thing with his bare fists. He was pissed when I told him he didn't have to do that.

>>336179931
Yeah, Arcane is amazing. The ability to make most weapons elemental without any split damage just makes it even better.
>>

not something that would naturally occur to a person unless they played souls games.

>>
>>336180340
You don't NEED particularly good Arcane scaling when you can easily target elemental weaknesses. There isn't a single boss that resists both fire and bolt so just have one weapon with each type of gem and you're set. Use fire on beasts and bolt on Great Ones and kin.
>>
>>336180126
That approach only fails in two areas, even:
1) Horsecock Valley. Those things are faster than you and will never stop chasing.
2) The deep bits of Farron Keep. The giant casters that hang out there are super persistent.
There's probably more areas, but that's all I can think of because I should have been in bed two hours ago.
>>
>>336180018
hah yep this was my first souls game took me like 2-3 tries to notice the notes in dream and select my weapon
>>
>>336177978
Nah, it definitely takes more effort to do it in 2, but you can still run past everything pretty easily.
>>
>>336179874
Yeah, it's moveset is what appeals to me. You aren't throwing around a cumbersome weapon so it feels a lot more mobile to me.

The only game in which leveling health matters is in DaS3 because armor sucks and the late game enemies/bosses will one shot you if you don't level up your health.

Bloodborne has this weird scaling thing so outside of counter hits, beast buildup or their very strongest attacks nothing will really oneshot you.

> immediately hit a learning curve so steep I barely made it halfway up. As From Software veterans know, Dark Souls is a very different series to Bloodborne. It’s slower and weightier; there's more waiting around during combat. As I played, I felt like Andre the Giant floundering about in the featherweight division: I kept trying to roll around enemies to dodge their blows, but my armoured body was too slow. Lifting my sword felt too heavy. I was running through molasses.
>I eventually presumed my time with Bloodborne had mapped my brain irreversibly (I of course chose to blame everything but myself), and gave up.

Theres only a handful of weapons that have great scailing. The rest usually have D/C scailing in strength/skill just like their Arcane stat.

Plus you also get Executioners, A call beyond, the DLC tools, Kos Parasite, Moonlight Greatsword, etc. Unless you're running a skilltinge build, there's no reason to not implement Arcane into your build besides personal preference.

I was honestly pretty pissed off with how Bloodborne started. I felt it wasn't being kind to new players and ended up being rather frustrating. Once you understand just about everything you're capable of doing, the path from the start to the bridge is easy enough, but there are many ways you can be fucked over if you're still getting a feel for how things work.

Honestly, I don't like it. Then DaSIII comes around and the introduction is TOO easy. Feels like it may as well not even be there, it's a total joke.

This describes my experience with the first Dark Souls. I love games with tough battles and I enjoy grinding when it results in noticeable strength increases, but I really dislike having to redo dungeons just to fight a boss again. This is why most games put save points right before bosses.
>>
>>336184779
I really love the scene after Rom where your dude turns around to see a big fuckoff angry moon.
>>
>>336185027
What part of his post are you responding to?

There are runes that cause visceral attacks to restore health. If you get hit, your health bar doesn't really drain for approximately 2 seconds. During that time if you get hits in you can prevent the loss of health that the attack caused.
>>
>>336185027
When you get hit, part of your health remains orange, if you hit something while that orange health is there, you get it back. Its to encourage you to stay on the offensive even after getting hit.

>>
>>336179523
I think this anon spoke oddly but frankly, if you want to avoid a lot of frustration it seems you NEED to level health in BB which I think is horrible in a game that emphasizes dodging in its design.

There are a ton of attacks as the game goes on that will kill you in one hit on lower health levels, and that's much too punishing for one lack of or otherwise mistimed dodge.

I went through nearly the entire game without leveling health and suffered a lot for it, but did so just to say I did it. I basically reached Ebrietas and the final bosses before leveling up health, and I leveled up health not because of them but because The Bloody Crow of Cainhurst was killing me if he ever managed to get a bullet in me and I was getting pissed off.
>>
>>336182482
Killed him on my first try. I must have gotten lucky and killed the dog fast. You get plenty of time to kill them before he shambles into range. He's so slow and you can block every one of his attacks. Doesn't even matter if he guard breaks you since he hardly ever does combos

But it fits the theme rather well of drawing blood and especially for parrying you will get hit but if you viscreal at the same time, you get your health back and dont have to heal, so the flow of the game doesn't get interrupeted.

This saved my ass tons of times.

The most depressing thing about Dark Souls III was that I liked it but I didn't feel anything stronger than "like" about it and all it did was make me want to go play Bloodborne again.

So I'm doing that instead of DS3 NG+.
>>
>>336185920
The issue with the term difficulty is people with experience will have a completely different perspective that those that don't have the experience. The Souls games are hard out of the gate but once you master the mechanics, they seem easy. I think that helps with the appeal is that it feels like you develop a skill for games when playing it.
>>
>>336184779
The cutscenes in BB are really underrated and have some legit great cinematography. I never skip them on replays.
>>
>>336178713
You can easily R1 mash and O spam yourself into beating the giant with the brick even if you're not gonna try the gun parry.
And the werewolves on the bridge, they can be bypassed by going on the other path with the dog cages that leads to the dark room with the weelchair guy.
Plus the game gives you 6 molotovs just before them and countless pebbles and basically teaches you that 1v1 good, 5v1 bad so you learn to bait one at a time and circle strafe.
>>
>>336186081

What the h*ck do you not kill every enemy at least once?

>>
>>336186124
I don't consider them even hard out of the gate. Maybe some of them are frustrating, but not hard.

What separates the idea in my head is how much failure feels like it was your own fault. Does it feel like you just died because of bullshit, or because of your lack of skill?

I considered DMC3 a hard game from the getgo (not 1, that game got hard later), and I knew my losing to Cerberus was mostly on me sucking shit.

On the other hand I made it through a great distance in DaS without getting frustrated. The game is slow, once you understand that it's easy. As for BB, part of the frustration I personally had from the start definitely came from me not understanding the game, but at the same time I consider that a failure of the game designer because I SHOULD be able to smoothly start understanding the game.

Like, that game tries to kill you in the first encounter. You don't have to die (I didn't), but it still took me a fair amount of damage/recovery to kill that werewolf because I wasn't entirely sure of the mechanics. Once I got him in a "fist my asshole" state from a strong hit to his back, it became easy, but that should have been something I figured out on weaker enemies first, not lost to the first enemy because it just wasn't in my arsenal.

It's that kind of thing.

I don't think so. DaS at least felt like the tutorial area was very thorough and understandable.
>learn to avoid incoming fire without a shield
>learn to block attacks/how stamina drain works
>learn to fight
>there's a trap that can fuck you over, but you can avoid it
>teaches you about how the environment can change
>if you want, you can learn to parry on two very simple enemies as many times as you want, the distance from the bonfire to the stronger enemies is short
>on that note, you learn about bonfire respawn
>you learn plunging attacks and face a relatively simple boss
>okay, play the game

After that I felt pretty ready. I think the next thing that gave be trouble was Sen's Fortress. After that, fat guy and lancer.

BB was honestly balanced wrong, the start is hard as fuck, most classes start with barely any HP and while you don't get 1 shot, you get 1 rounded by a combo that will stunlock you, usually involving multiple enemies.
Plus you can't even level up till you find and use a madman's knowledge or find a boss.
That fucking square with the burning beast on a cross is literally the first boss of this game and the 2 werewolfs on the bridge that seem AI linked because a few seconds after the first one sees you, the second comes as well.
No wonder like 30% of players never got to Gascognie.
>>
>>336186702
Getting all three endings can easily be done in one playthrough. The chalice dungeons are the only thing that makes it somewhat difficult. It's more just a time sink though. I'd probably play a new character if it weren't for the horror of farming chalices for gems, fuck that.

I doubt I'll be getting a plat in DaS3. Grinding covenant items is not fun and Ive never gone past NG+ because I just prefer making new characters and trying new things. I'm pretty burnt out on it already to be honest. Probably going to give it a break.
>>
>>336187052

>>
>>336186648
That's strange. I loved DMC3 and wouldn't consider it as hard as Souls games. Guess it's all in varying player experiences. I will say the werewolf in the beginning is a strange idea. Especially when I realized you DON'T have to die to him at all. It also doesn't help that any souls you obtain until you get your first humanity (or whatever BB calls it) are practically negated by the fact that you can't do anything with them especially if you die a few times in the process. I will say BB is way more grueling than DaS1-3 though. Not sure what the decision was there.

personally, i didn't start enjoying BB until i hit cathedral ward

the 2 werewolves on the bridge should have been reduced to one. that alone would have made the game a lot less bullshit

bloodborne has a stupid difficulty curve where the game gets easier as it goes along (until the DLC)
>>
>>336192985
It's not harder.
>>
I just hate that so many enemies end up with the same flurry of sweeping side-to-side attacks that can kill you in one combo if it were to all hit you, and just for the hell of it, they can go on for anywhere from 2-10 hits with no visual indication of when it's going to stop, which means even if you've seen it and properly dodged, punishing it is a total guessing game.

wew lad

I summoned for Lawrence, I didn't for orphan

>Spent half a day fighting Oprhan of Kos
>Broke myself while fighting him
>finally beat him, after seemingly a fight of eternity.
>Ophan of Kos made me gid gud at the game.

It hurts, but it feels right
>>
>>336192985
>still can't beat Ludwig
>finally reliably get him to phase two
>can't even think of how to deal with it
Using the stake driver, by the way
>>
>>336193108
You don't even have to ever fight the werewolves on the bridge
>>
>>336185378
>>Bloody Crow of Cainhurst
That fight was goddamn unfair because of the Repeating Pistol and From knows it.
>>
>>336184131
What did he mean by this?
>>
>>336193586
>infinite fucking bullets
>somewhat inconsistent in attack pattern so attacking him outside of very safe timing is a bad idea
I hated him. I beat him once and I don't think I will again. I accidentally recorded my replay of the time I beat him, though, and rewatching that is hilarious. You can tell how often I got punished because I basically play it safe for a tense 7 minutes. Barely took damage but aside from when his transformed chikage was out I only attacked for 1 swipe hit and runs.
>>
>>336193156
This. The biggest complaint I have against Bloodborne is the fucking aberrant stunlock and multi-hit attacks you can't anticipate, but will fuck your ass if you get caught in a combo. I fucking hate mob tactics and endless combo whoring, and Bloodborne has both of them as its primary PvE element.
>>
>>336193156
I found that with many enemies, dodging directly into them was the safest option. In fact, the only thing I could not reliably dodge in the game was Ebrietas's charge attack, because it's fucking broken and I can't believe that garbage is in the game.
>>
>>336193586
If I got unlucky enough for him to fire twice it was over. Done. Fuck that thing.
>>
>>336193875
See, I thought that worked pretty well in Bloodborne because of how quickly you can dodge, but it was so fucking irritating in DS3.
>>
>>336193493
Stay close to his horsey nutsack, keep attacking, dodge through his magical girl sword swipes, and get the fuck away from him if he raises his sword for any reason.
On the last note, if his sword is pointing down when he raises it, get the fuck away from him in any general direction. If it's pointing up, get the fuck behind him.
>>
>>336179190
>if I cant cheese the game with shields and magic its not souls

wew lad. its the same fucking game.
>>
>>336194173
this should help, thanks
>>
>>336177978

>Doing Iron Keep
>When you die at the Smelter Demon you have to go through a bunch of knights who will fuck your shit over and have fast attacks.
>You can be knocked in the lava on the bridge
>One knight is ready to rape your boipucci at the boss gate

Well at least it isn't Ninja Gaiden 1 with the tower level.
>>
How popular is the reiterpallasch? Because I think I've fallen in love with this thing since using it to kill the guy with the chaingun in the DLC cave. You know who I'm talking about.
>>
>>336193586
there should have been a trophy for completing eileen's quest
>>
>>336194779
He should have had a proper boss health bar and music.
>>
>>336194779

I hate how all the weapons I want require some bullshit to go through or are really late in the game. And one of them is Eileen's daggers, how the fuck can I get those alot earlier? She's a killing machien at the beginning of the game if you attack her.
>>
>>336195108
Get her to fall off the rafter then pelt her with molotovs. Still gotta get the 40k echoes to buy them though.
>>
>>336193493
Don't panic dodge in the 2nd phase, learned that lesson the hard way
>>
>>336194952
agreed, you had to jump through a lot to get there, they should have done more to make the fight more significant.
>>
>>336195108
You kill her when you first meet, or cheese her in the graveyard by getting her stuck behind gravestones and whipping her to death. Any other time she'll be too difficult to kill legitimately, with the exception of her post-Rom encounter, but you may as well fight the Bloody Crow just to say you did it.

I completed Eileen's questline right after I beat Rom, and the Crow was probably the most unfair fight I had in the entirety of the game, with the exception of Orphan of Kos and a couple of the chalice bosses. Unless you've got the stones to upgrade the Blade of Mercy right away, you'll be relying more on whatever weapon you're using at the time instead of your new acquisition.
>>
Will any other game Trigger as many people as Bloodborne has done for the past year ?
>>
>>336196921
you don't even need to kill her at oedon tomb, if you don't fight henryk at all and trigger the encounter, he'll do it for you.
>>
>>336197423
Really? In my game she kicked his ass. I hit him all of three times because I was afraid of hitting her, and she did plenty of damage on her own. More than I was doing at that level, anyway.
>>
>>336190020
Anyone could do that with enough practice. Souls games are just trial and error, once you know what to do and how to do it the game becomes a breeze.

Don't pretend like you roll a SL1 character and clear it in under 3 hours on your first go whenever a new soulsbourne game comes out.
>>
>>336198178
2 hours actually. My asshole is ten times larger than that of a normal man due a rare genetic condition and also being extremely gay and usually around that time I have to bail all the poo out of my living room
>>
>>336198013
if you don't fight at all or do any damage to him / distract him he should usually win the fight 1 on 1

The stamina/shield/attack gameplay is the best aspect of the souls games and backstab/parry are gimmicks that obsolete several stats in the game, reducing complexity.
>>
>>336203383
Actually the best aspect of the souls games is that there are many viable ways to play the game and they are all very fun. Namaste.
>>
>>336192085
Nobody does that. They google information and run around like idiots.

Felt great clearing out zones in DaS3 and pouring over them for loot/secrets.
>>
>>336177912

You can do that in every Souls game though
>>
>>336181929
I went through DaS, DeS, and DaS2 as a shield baby. Rarely dodging anything I knew I didn't have to. BB forced me to dodge (or parry) everything, so I did.

Then DaS3 came around, and I tried to use a shield, because that's what I did in DaS. But I realized I was just dodging everything and never using my shield for anything except those fucking dogs. DaS3 ended up being a fucking cakewalk for me because of this.

Difficulty wise:

BB > DaS2 > DaS > DaS3 > DeS
>>
Alright let's do this

Central Yharnam >= Undead Burg+Parish > Forest of Giants >>> High Wall

haven't played DeS yet
>>
>>336186494
i ran through half of ds3 on my first playthrough and not i run through 90% of it
>>
>>336203938
the only time a shield really helped me was actually the nameless king, it was easier to tank attacks than to rely on rolling since he was so fast, then when he paused go in for 1-2 hits, youd always be close to him so itd be easy
>>
>>336204874
Boletarian Palace from DeS was actually really good imo. Undead Burg has good level design, but sucks that it's a thematic rehash from DeS. I appreciate FoG for actually being Not Another God Damn Castle.

I never played BB because I am a PC babby this gen.
>>
>>336177912
I've never owned a PS4 or even played BB but I know for a fact this is viable as fuck in DkS III. The run from Bonfire 2 to the church bonfire in Irithyll is just "lets clog the end of you blade with as many meat enemies as possible".
>>
>>336179190
Holy shit I've never seen such a bootyblasted PC cuck go on sperg out more hahahaha
