I feel like such a situation should never occur in a souls setting at all. The whole "you're just a shadow" thing strikes me as unbearably cliche.
Even worse, when there's a dramatic show down between two characters, dialogue is almost /never shared/
When has two Dark Souls NPC's ever had an audible conversation with one another, outside of that one cutscene in Bloodborne?
Even when Creighton and Pate are fighting, they don't talk to each other so much as they talk to the silent player character.
This really helps the dialogue because if the player character audibly responded beyond what was implied, it would be cringeworthy as fuck.
A Dark Souls comic featuring a silent protagonist (who is not the chosen one) interacting with enemies and a few NPCs has the potential to be good, but this comic is the farthest thing from "good" that I can imagine.
There was a gif once of a guy rolling quickly around another guy in some fighting match labelled 'Dark Souls III' and funnily enough, years after the gif was made DaS3 actually turned out to be just that

What in hell is this? The protagonist looks like something out of Dragon Age or whatever the fuck, and Aldrich... Christ, the idea behind Aldrich is that you're meant to envision what he looked like before he went all monstrous so shit like this wouldn't happen.
If they absolutely /had/ to add Aldrich in the story, they could have done it tactfully by either having him be obscured in shadow or have him in a sort of half/goop form that leaves his face anonymous.
This is basic story telling 101. It's clear that the people who drew/wrote this comic have little true understanding or respect for the games that they are converting to comics.

The comic's protagonist isn't a player characer though. She's just another NPC and this is just another legend of some hero like you'd read on some item description.
My only problems with the comic are Solaire showing up is pandering as fuck, Aldritch being the name of a character (who I don't believe is the same as DS3's Aldritch), and Fira's boob armor, which the souls series has always been really good about avoiding.

Read the first volume. If you aren't enjoying it by then you probably won't enjoy reading the rest. There are some characters introduced later on who do a bit more talking and are more likeable though. There is so little dialogue that reading the whole 10 volume thing wouldn't take long.

Pretty much robbed they straight up, it's damn near criminal they held that bonus ransom for failing to meet such a minor threshold, they just didn't want to admit they made a better quality product than Fallout 3 was as far as reception with older fans that complained about changes in the third.

My problem is that, player character or not, this "Fira" seems very boring. What I've gotten from these few panels is that she's a tough mom character, something that doesn't fit in Dark Souls at all.
Also, why did they give her a face? I feel as though a protagonist for one of these comics could be made much better with a full-face helmet that leaves more to the readers imagination. Also helps to hide that generic art style.

After slaughtering many hollows, he hears a sound, and turns to look up at another living person who hasn't gone hollow yet.
The person wears a slim armor set topped with a pilfered Winged Knight Helm. The face of the visor stares at the protagonist threateningly, and then the strange knight walks backwards into the shadows and disappears.
Literally anyone in this thread could have made a better comic for Dark Souls 3.

That is the secret of the magic. Many flawed games have been given the benefit of the doubt because when you play them you can feel the passion and love - the je ne se quois - that went into said game even if the end result was subpar.
A passionate - but flawed - game is more forgivable than a technological marvelous, but soulless game.

You can summon other players or be invaded.
You can summon up to 2 players to your world to help you with the game. This is generally frowned upon in first playthroughs as multiple players can trivialize the game's difficulty. I don't recommend it unless a boss is literally impossible for you to beat, but I always encourage new players to learn the mechanics and patterns on their own.
However, summoning also opens up your game to Invading players. A player can randomly show up in your game with the intention to kill you.
You can use a Dried Finger to allow you to summon a third friendly player, but this also opens a slot for a second invader.
If you'd like to experience the online without ruining your own game experience, you can always place down a White Soapstone and help OTHER players. This is also a good, risk-free way to learn a boss's patterns so you can beat it for yourself.
Alternatively you can find a Red Eye Orb and invade other people's worlds to kill them for prizes such as Embers.

Right. 3 is a little different in the beginning compared to the other two. I think it says something about the pilgrims trying to get to Anor Londo (the city of the gods) which is where Gwyn resided, who was the first one to bring about an age of fire. And also who destroyed the dragons. I guess they thought there where some gods left who could link the flame or heal them of the curse.

In New Game Plus im fighting every boss solo at SL 120.
Champion Gundyr was an unrelenting prick holy fuck. Just stays on you. The key was to wait until he jumps slams on you and double or tripple sip the OJ and then continue whittling him down until he does the next slam attack to heal.
15 tries for him. Everyone else so far in the game has been 5 tries at the most. And most bosses beaten in 1.

When you fight Gravelord Nito he has a move he'll use if you're too far from him, especially if you think you're a cheeky breeky and can just wait for him to waddle closer so you don't spawn the giant skellies.

Souls are the least thing you should be concerned about. I know that for newbies, losing souls may look like a big deal, but remember that you get more of them literally the whole time. I don't know if you're using a guide, but if you're not, i'd also recommend never using one for your first playthrough, even if you want to know some strategy to beat a boss or a particularly difficult area.BTW, what is your Soul Level?
Is it just me, or does scaling suck overall? Without doing a quality build, you're always losing more base damage than you're getting back in scaling, and any weapon that uses FTH/INT to scale obviously splits the damage, which due to damage absorption gives a significant hit to the final damage due to being decreased twice.

I'd say the difficulty of the first phase depends on the weapon he's wielding. Spear is easy mode, sword is ok, curved greatsword is a pain in the ass, and caster is either braindead or really fucking heard, depending on whether or not you let him start casting.
Gwyn mode was definitely cool, but outside of that 5 hit combo he's not too hard.
The easy staggering made this guy a little too easy imo.

Crystal/Lightning infusions are really good on Lothric Knight Sword if you have 40 int/faith. Not to actually use, but to have in your second right hand slot. The way backstab/riposte damage works, you'd do more damage with one of those infusions than you would with say a Refined Lothric Knight Sword with any buff on it. For general use, those particular infusions are generally inferior.

I'd like to share my first truly great but fucking terrifying experience with you guys. Just so you know, I didn't win.
So, I've got Bloodborne, it's my first in the series. And I've been struggling to get used to it, watching Cleric Beast fights before I'm anywhere near ready and thinking "that's fucking impossible, there's no way I'll ever be able to do it." So today, I decide that I really want to go get the armor in the sewers, so I start out slow taking out the lanky guys in the building above the sewers, and as I go I watch a walkthrough to make sure the next room or area isn't dotted with snipers or guys put really close together or anything. Anyway, I make it through that first side of the sewer, eventually get the saw spear, and I'm feeling great. I proceed to get the music box, open up the elevator, and I'm really getting to the point where I keep cool in every engagement, which means I make real decisions instead of panicking and getting killed. I get the armor, take out the pig, and eventually I'm just past the flaming boulder guys with like 5500 blood echoes, 11 bloodstone shards, and I'm ready to go back to put pluses on my saw spear and maybe level up, but I gotta kill the two guys guarding those bold hunters marks behind the boulder guys, right? So I do that, then I see stairs. "Hmm, I don't remember there being more to this level." By the time the screen has darkened, I am screaming. I even have the music box, but I don't have it equipped at all, and I don't have what it takes to get that done mid-fucking-boss battle, so I have to just deal with it. I actually last like a good minute or two and get him down almost half way before I die. Didn't come close to beating him, but I improved so fucking much today that I realize I can kick this game's ass if I try.
