Let me take a stab
The protagonist, some effeminate looking fagboy teenager starts life as a normal kid in the exotic fantasy world they inhabit, where zeppelins and magic and guns exist but not practical shit like cars and planes. One day while he is away his village/family get attacked and killed and as such he starts a quest of revenge
On his quest he meets many friends (one of 4 categories; hulking older men, teen girls with huge tits, equally effeminate faggots, or comic relief) and eventually discovers that whatever attacked his village is some evil metaphysical force. Trough the power of friendship he finally reaches the boss (not before his 2nd closest friend dies) and at the boss, through either discovering a hidden power or some other bullshit like friendship, defeats the equivalent of a deity and brings to all the land
Society was ignorant of stuff going on behind the scene.
Evil gang found ancient weapon that eats energy source (mana).
Milla goes to human world to fix it because she is "god"..
Jude wants the puss and stalks her and gets involved.
Shit happens.
Suddenly whole new continent that was kept invisible because barrier where energy source is abused because its easy mode living.

Milla is fake god, fight with the real god to break the barrier.
Milla becomes god and fucks off.

I encountered a bugs early on in the ps3 version that I didn't encounter in the GC version. Stuff like clipping into walls and getting stuck on the overworld. If you play it make sure to save frequently if you choose the ps3 version. I also heard the PC version is a port of the ps3 version so watch out!

I didn't know the Xillia team is working on Berseria's battle system. Looking at it now the cut in's when doing Soul Break are similar to when link artes were used in Xillia. The result screen is also similar to Xillia.
