I agree with your line of thought but I've made like 5 friends just from people I've played against randomly adding me and then we talk.

You're right, but (now that I think about it) in games where there's only time for a one-liner in the middle of the game, there are usually clans. If the game has a general on /vg/ then it there's a clan with like-minded poeple or just regular memekids. Still, I've seen people gain a lot of long term friends from clans. Not me though.

Avoid shit like CSGO or ASSFAGGOTS where people are overly competitive. No one plays those to interact with people, they play them to go in with a bunch of friends they already have and "pub stomp"

Planetside 2 is surprisingly good for this because when 200 people are stuck in a zerg rush meat grinder for hours on end they usually interact socially.
