>M'uru
>Casual filter

This supposed "guild breaker" of a boss lasted 4 whole days after it was available, making it a significantly faster world first than most major bosses since Cata Ragnaros.

I laughed at this post....oh man

Still laughing

>>336096747

Don't get me wrong, my guild killed it pre nerf. but jesus christ he was his own special kind of hell. We killed KJ the next day and he was pathetic by comparison.
>>
>>336096606

i got kicked from my guild in vanilla for not tranqing huhuran's enrage because the RL couldn't distinguish between a frenzy and an enrage

You weren't a casual if you could even so much as get to M'uru.

If you think of what kind of boss it is, while there is all sorts of emergent complexities (like resto shaman having to be extremely diligent with grounding totems if you use 3 tank strategy, although that too is something players should already be practised in after Vashj and such like), it mostly taxes the general WoW skills and raid coordination. By Sunwell you've raided for hundreds of hours and if by that point your guild by large hasn't gotten good at misdirection rotations or tanks grabbing adds or just making big numbers appear on the screen then few hundred wipes on M'uru aren't going to change that (as opposed to bosses that are almost entirely about handling fight-specific mechanics). Moreover, the gated release in Sunwell caused a phenomenon of world first kills being done in gear pretty close to pre-M'uru BiS while particularly in later expansions the gear scaling has gotten completely out of hand and guilds doing a boss later might have gear that provides insane indirect nerf to the boss (through virtue of having possibly as high as 50% higher output as world first kills did, and in ICC for example you even had the 30% buff on top that). So yes, it did go down rather quickly but that's almost expected considering the nature of the boss (although even then it was respectable 200+ wipes), but in the same time it's one of the most hardcore-exclusive bosses ever.

>pre-nerf
The Negative Energy pushback nerf, the humanoid add/Entropius/M'uru health nerf or the WotLK prepatch -30% everything nerf?
>>
>>336098350
I found that box in 10 minutes. How do people fuck up that hard?
>>
>>336098486

>the humanoid add/Entropius/M'uru health nerf

That one, although this happened before we went and killed him again.

Is there an open world RPG where you look for a mystic item but it's in the starting village

you don't have a casual filter behind the toughest dps check since patchwerk

Yeah TBC was easy.
I still get nightmares from HC Ragnaros.

>>336099183
How is this a casual filter? The entire game can be beaten using an exploit to punch forever and never be countered.
>>
>>336098509
Personally I went through that whole cave system looking for the thing. I just did not expect it to be somewhere so easy to find.

What the fuck is a casual filter
>>
>>336099971

Something that forces you to thoroughly grasp the game mechanics to get past. The idea is that casuals would give up because it's too hard for them to understand....hence filtered.

The boss he posted is a horrible example and the furthest thing from a casual filter
>>
>>336099971
Early to mid game bosses that beat the shit out of casuals, making them unable to progress further until they git gud.

ITT: Bad Game Design.

M'uru was boring. All it does was tickle you with shadow damage while you dealt with adds. Most tanks were just staring at a blank wall the whole raid. So visually, it was a letdown from the start.

Mechanically, it was complete ass. Again the adds were the real threat of the fight aside from the soft-enrage. The dps requirements were ridiculously high pre-nerf. Other guilds were not broken because they couldn't beat it. They were broken because higher end guilds poached shamans and warlocks constantly to just meet those requirements.

Then there was the dumbest thing in WoW. The raid respecs into Leatherworking. Master it. Then makes drums of battle/healing. The whole raid uses them on rotation, effectively bloodlusting the raid the whole fight.

That's how the world first on M'uru was done. No one enjoyed killing it because it was a fun fight, they were only glad to be done with it.

This and Cerberus gave me more trouble than most of the other bosses in the game.
