Yup rewatching all the trailers made me realize that there was so few cutscenes in the game that that I seen them all before the game came out.
I don't know man, there just this feeling of longing, a linger feeling from that hype I had those three years.
I wanted my favorite series to go out with a bang, not a whimper.

The game demos looked a lot like what we got. I remember being suspicious about the level design and mission variety like two years ago. I'm not making myself out to be a prophet here, but a lot of the game's issues were somewhat obvious before the game came out.
As for the story, there wasn't much left to tell about Big Boss. The trailers made the story look pretty heavy-handed anyway. (The story we got was still heavy-handed, though in mostly different ways.) The hype was ridiculous.

Why would they be? The Liberian Civil War was in 1989. Even Liquid being in the game was a contrived stretch, but there was at least a foundation for that with Liquid's dialogue in MGS1.

I feel like I'm the only person who absolutely loved MGSV.
It was a shock how different the game was to the others in the series but after I got over that it became my favorite in the series.
I used to obsessively play Crysis. I've logged thousands of hours in it. MGSV is like Crysis meets Far Cry 2 but way better. I love it.

Metal Gear wasn't always so insufferably narcissistic. MGSV had more than enough dumb callbacks. An ending that was actually good and felt natural to the game would have been a perfect way to wrap up the series, not an unnecessary attempt at coming "full circle."
