Pyromancy gets SIGNIFICANTLY better after catacombs. Make sure you stop by smoldering lake because there's two pyromancy tomes down there, even if you can only use one of them until you recruit Karla.
Also pyromancy is really fucking good in PvP thanks to iron flesh. R1 scrubs don't know how to deal with an unstunnable enemy.

I don't expect you to understand, since you probably jumped on the band wagon after DaS got popular, but the best thing about early Demon's Souls PVP, was that it was some guy during his playthrough, needing human form. The invasions were fun and challenging. That was until Demon's Souls got popular, and EVERY single invader was a Scraping Spear wielding faggot spreading plague and poison in every single direction. You might as well lay down the controller and go take a piss, because if you didn't have a PVP build yourself, it was impossible to win, without eating your entire stack of 99 new moon grass.
This is precisely the same deal here, and it's the definition of anti-fun. I'm not saying this shouldn't be allowed, or that people shouldn't do it.
