Maybe not, we're only 4 months in. It's definitely gonna be one of my personal top 10 of this year though. It's been a long time since I had a lot of fun with a game like this. No rage, no boring bits, just a bunch of fun. It's up there with Superstar Ultra.

Is it really that good? I had some fun with Triple Deluxe but felt Kirby as a whole was getting too much of the samey so I have my reservations about this game.

If you use 3d, there's a few minor fps drops in water levels, a few significant fps drops on the haltmann boss, and a few noticeable fps drops in the first phase of the last boss. Outside of those, it's smooth sailing.

It's not a joke, it's been confirmed in pretty much every Kirby thread we've had.
Smash and UFO were supposedly "Amiibo" locked. Turns out, Amiibo's don't lock ANYTHING, they just give you easy access to things.
Instead, Smash is available in a (hidden) room in every single world, and UFO is a reward for 100%'ing the game. Which is just as well, because UFO basically turns the game into easy mode.

It's not "Nova", it's Star Dream. It's a different Clockwork Star than the one we see in SS.
HWC is (at least, it was) capable of straight up producing Clockwork Stars, though the one they made requires quite a bit of organic material to fulfill a wish (Nova required the power of the Fountains of Dreams)

Those same ancients built NOVA, who can only be summoned through star power from various Fountains of Dreams.

Dark Matter is part of a powerful species at odds with the rest of the universe, that's so far composed of Dark Matter, Gooey, Zero/0^2, Miracle Matter, Dark Nebula, and possibly Dark Crafter.
Sectonia is the queen of Floralia, but turned evil after being exposed to the Dimension Mirror, which is controlled by Dark Mind.

It's pretty long to explain why I personally think there should be a crossover. I felt as though the characters from both worlds have their quirks and such and if all these beloved characters from each world gathered up, it'd be a grand festival of character interaction, Silly, Serious, Lighthearted, etc (ex: Magolor and the Mermaid/Globerto or The Squeak Squad with The Terrible Trio butting heads, akin to a comedic rivalry)
Another reason is that Kirby and Starfy themselves really do look similar and have their similar traits in personality and powers.

They both seem as though they can become great friends. Even Starfy's co-creator himself stated that they'd be best friends on the spot and that one of them is a hero of either the Sky or the Sea. Like, fuck, if Sakurai won't make Starfy a playable character in smash and give him an intro cutscene with Starfy teaming/becoming friends with Kirby while also butting heads with Wario, then idk wtf else can happen.
It'd be nice to see a story set in their worlds, for example, Magolor flying Kirby and the gang to another world via Lor and head to Pufftop on Earth but crash land in the skies, thus leading Starfy and friends to investigate. Yet after a little misunderstanding of Kirby thinking Starfy is a warpstar, they fall into the sea together, thus leading the other main characters of the story having to find them and thus all of them team up after being all safe and sound towards each other, but only for a dark presence arriving and fucking shit up. In a way, Kirby lore can help in this and how Starfy 3 had it's dark backstories and tragic outcomes, maybe a back story about two characters exclusively in the story having both connections to the two and are related to the issues between the two worlds colliding outta nowhere, etc.

Star Dream analyzed the shit out of Dedede's DNA, and it could fully analyze 1000's of years worth of DNA that it picked up from the flower with Sectonia's DNA. It may not be able to make perfect clones, but it definitely knew what these guys were made of.
When it came to Dark Matter though, Star Dream couldn't even fully analyze it, despite having the physical substance in their possession.

Sakurai had nothing to do with DL3. That was all Shimomura.
Sakura, after finishing development of KSS, wanted to go and make a new not platformer game. He went on to focus on Kirby Air Ride (64). When it got pushed back, he started developing Smash because he really didn't want to make another Kirby platformer.
Shimomura was all down for another Kirby platformer, but the SNES had reached the end of it's life (DL3 bombed because it was the literal last first party game for the SNES, and HAL knew it wouldn't do great because of that). So he went on to the N64, at which point it was pretty much mandatory to use polygon models.
The artstyle only had a chance to come back once we got to the GBA, at which point both Sakurai and Shimomura were pretty much done with HAL. Apparantly, no one else at HAL really wanted to go back to it, so they didn't.

I'm biased towards Hammer, so I'm gonna have to go with Dededetour. Slamming enemies with the Giant Swing feels so good, and hunting portals is comfy as fuck.

KDL3 literally released a year after the N64 was out. It also had absolutely NO marketing (no trailers, no posters, no magazine ads, NOTHING). It ALSO didn't release in PAL regions due to difficulties with the conversion.

You said they were playing the 3DS version. The only version available on the 3DS is the 3D classics version, which fixed various glitches, including that one. You can walk to the end and back as many times as you want, you can't access the HAL room in the 3DS version.

No actually. I mean, had he been in the position to order everyone around then yes, he'd be shoehorning in a bunch of "casual appeal" and GODAWFUL menu design, but he never amounted to more than Iwata's failed protege while serving his tenure at HAL.
