Pretty accurate actually, BFE had some issues that Croteam fixed pretty well in Jewel of the Nile which makes me hopeful for SS4, Second Encounter was almost as good as the First but it did have some pretty annoying level design like that rotating barrel thing where monsters would be tossed about and escaping damage was almost nigh impossible, never played SS2 though, maybe I should give it a go afterall.

But Academy is the best of the whole series, you can use staffs and dual-sabers in it, there are a whole bunch of crazy missions and you can fight Katarn himself if you take dark path. There's also fan-made expansion for it called Escape from Yavin 4, that thing is completely insane, level design is balls-hard and they take light-weaponry to a whole new level with shit like axes and tridents.

All the dungeons are twenty or thirty minutes long at best, two or three floors, four or five rooms a floor, and the puzzle design is literally "baby's first zelda". The reason lttp was so good was because it didn't have puzzles but was combat heavy, similar to lbw except as you said and I agree it was watered down.
I love lbw, my only problem is that it didn't feel epic (as zelda should feel (lttp, oot, tp)). The artstyle was a joke, the combat was slightly repetitive, no sense of growth of because you just rented items. Silly characters (rovio), silly story (paintings, I loved the mechanic but should have been an item with small back story like the songs from oot - not have the whole game centered around something so silly)

I mean, at the very least LTTP did whatever few puzzles it threw out well and sparingly. Every single dungeon in LBW was "do the dungeon gimmick" repeated about seven or eight times. The item renting thing felt more like it belonged in a mobile game or some shit, and I never once even died despite brazenly slamming myself against enemies as often as possible just to kill them as soon as possible.
I also accidentally got the gold master sword after 3 dungeons and the blue mail on my 4th, so it made an already-pitifully easy game somehow even easier.the reason I mentioned LTTP to begin with is because LBW is a sequel to it so I expected the game to at least be nearly as good as that and it just didn't match up, particularly in the bosses department but also due to the pacing and general feel being off

Sure, the big, seamless world is a cool idea and what Zelda should be like. There's just one problem, there's almost no content there. There was a single island in every square. Imagine a game that uses the seamless overworld of Wind Waker that's mostly land, full of monsters to survive against and littered with caves and dungeons. It would effectively be the original Zelda in 3D, and it would be amazing. The thing is, Wind Waker isn't that. It isn't anywhere close to being that. With Wind Waker, you can clearly see what the game could have been, which makes the game it is feel like shit, and it is.
