I used to play on a NWN server called Myth Drannor. Good times. Then I played on the Cormyr Dalelands servers for a bit. Good roleplay, but the longer I stayed, the more people wanted to e romance me. Stay away from my Priestess of Sune!!!

EE is sort of acceptable lazy way to play the series (I havent played SoD) but you might want to avoid the new party NPCs. The extra arena-combat campaigns were sort of fun in my opinion.
Look up Baldur's gate trilogy otherwise. You should find everything you need by googling that. It's probably the safest way to experience the games in their original glory.

At the start I made a Fighter/Mage and Fighter/Thief party to begin with and it's so crazy how easy the game has become. I'm probably going to opt out Fighter/Mage with a Cleric/Ranger though.

Every class is viable for an average module.
Sure, if you want to power game you can come up with stronger combinations, but it would be impossible to perfectly balance hundreds of PrC and their combinations and thousands of spells.
It's like Magic: The Gathering. There are so many cards that inevitably there are some broken combinations. If it bothers you that much, make some house rules and ban them, or don't play with outright minmaxers.

Myth Drannor went under a while ago, but I am pretty sure that Cormyr Dalelands is still going. Usually has around 10-12 players online ago any given time with up to 30 or so.

Some of those Jaheira flirt dialogues were kind of bad, but I liked the ones for Viconia. If a game is going to include romances, there should be dialogues like that where the PC and the romanced NPC actually talk like they're in a relationship even when it's not advancing the "romance quest". I don't like how most RPG romances just sort of end as if they were just one side quest among many instead of a major part of the story.

Yea, they can place NPC's take them over and act as them, drop things in the world.
For larger events and for places with locations that are not normal, they usually have events servers intended to host them so it doesn't bog down the normal server as well.
They can grant XP, make and give items, custom spells. If you want an experience that is close to tabletop while still having a videogame like experience, this is pretty dang close to the real thing.

5E is pretty cool, basically accessible to people with a 3.PF mindset, and easy to switch to and from it and other editions. 4E, leaving any screaming matches about its objective merit or lack thereof, is a huge shakeup from 3E from mechanics to philosophy to even the type of game it works for. No. They affect different spells.
Pierce magic is for removing anti-magic protection (spell deflection, spell turning, globe of invulnerability), while Breach dispels physical (anti-melee) protection like Stoneskin or protection from normal/magical weapons.
Also breach dispels ALL spells that's on its list, while pierce magic only dispels a single one (and also lowers spell resistance).
Basically you want to either cast breach and melee zerg the caster, or cast pierce magic and nuke him down with spells.

If you are actually playing 3E in a tabletop setting, there is no reason to have any class that is not a Wizard, a Cleric, or a Druid, unless you are at very low levels, in which case you may need a Rogue to deal with traps and locks.
Consider--even at first level, when a Fighter is technically supposed to be at his strongest, the Druid's animal companion will almost always have better stats than he does. This disparity only gets worse the more levels you gain, till, at 11th level, the Wizard is able to break the game while the Fighter is completely useless against any actually challenging enemies.

Dungeon design is terrible, because lolrandom generation (and we know how good dungeons in roguelikes are), combat is shallow and repetitive, and the only way in order to make it difficult is to slap random resistances on enemies to encourage you to grind gear. Dual-classing isn't present in nwn because nwn uses a modified version of later rules than BG, but 'multi-classing' in nwn means something different than in BG, too.
In the 2e(?) rules that Baldur's Gate is based on, a multi-class is where you choose multiple classes to level up in at character creation, and all experience points you earn are split between the classes - so you're essentially levelling up multiple classes at once, at a slower rate.
A 'dual-class' is when you start out in one class, and then decide to switch classes sometime during the game. After you decide to dual-class, you can't level your first class again, and while you're progressing in your new class you lose access to most class features of your first class until your second class level exceeds your first, at which point you regain access to all class features (but continue to progress only in your second chosen class)
Multi-classing in NWN just describes taking levels of more than one different (specifically, base) class/es, because it might inflict an XP penalty.I hope I didn't fuck that explanation up too much

I DM'd 3.5 for a bit under a year, we had no barbs though. I've been DMing and playing some 5e since August last year and can say that barbs can definitely rip and tear if done right. At level 3 a Berserker barb gets 2 attacks before anyone else besides monks (who will have lower dice anyway), and then at level 5 he bumps to 3 while fighters and other martials linger at 2. Fighter eventually outpaces him though. That said, if you take pic related you will be a shredder alright.

Yeah, that's irritating as well. I'm probably a little less than halfway through Witcher 1, and I've already noticed several cases where an unnamed NPC, who is otherwise indistinguishable from all the others, actually has dialogue beyond the single line all the others say. That's ridiculous. NPCs you can actually talk to should always have a name, or at least *something* that makes it obvious that they're not just there for filler. That's basic RPG design that people figured out years ago, so I don't know why CD Projekt fucked it up.

Having a 'zerker in a well-balanced party back in 3.5 can be insanely fun, but you really need a sensible DM (to allow a Frenzying character to make Balance checks, which RAW don't strictly allow, or at least not to fuck you over with them) and a party that's prepared for the eventuality of your barb flipping out for no reason and murdering that guy you were negotiating with/the entire town/the entire party. That said, playing one (or with one) is fun as fuck

It's definitely a choice for someone who knows the mechanics really well (and usually the game well), but it can work - you've just got to know how/when to split. Mainly with a dual-class you either aim to gain your later levels really quickly (Thief for example) or you just rely on a good party to carry you. You can go Fighter early for weapon proficiencies and health for example, and then dual either to Thief for mad-quick levels or to Mage for being overpowered.

Neither of those things are true. Low-level D&D is deadly even if you know what you're doing, and the fact that lower numbers = better AC is completely counter-intuitive. Plus, you don't get a fighter companion for a while, so if you're playing a spellcaster, you'll have a really hard time for the first hour or so. The magic system is also completely different from every other magic system in games.

Playing Baldur's Gate 1 for the first time. 2 is one of my favourite games, an absolute masterpiece so it's interesting going back and seeing its origins.
