This game is really a Diablo 2 try-hard.

That's exactly what people who liked Diablo 2 are looking for, not Diablo 3.
It's getting better, last I checked you could cube uniques to get the unique effect as a passive which gives you at least some build diversity/customisation but it's still not PoE.
Of course PoE has the advantage of getting constant updates since its release and it's full of so much shit by now it's hard to catch up.

Is that a bad thing?

Why can't people go? Grim Dawn is such a boring game even worse than D2 was. Why can't people get that ARPGs just don't work in this generation and that every fun they thought they had with D2 was just purely nostalgia at work
