Now I'm not saying these are bad games, but Naughty Dog have never been industry leaders at everything. They are the definitions of followers. They see something popular that is happening and they remake it with shinier graphics and cinematics (but often worse level design). I think CTR is probably the only time they ever pushed a genre forward while ripping it off.

in Uncharted and every other cover shooter ever (except Tomb Raider reboot games), you stick to the wall when you take cover.
TLOU has a "cover system" but it is completely passive and is not some huge part of the game like for most cover shooters. Your character will automatically hug low cover if you push into it while ducked just to make you harder to see, but you cant do things like blindfire or peek around corners. If you try to aim at something while crouched behind low cover, you will automatically pop out over/around it to aim. But this stops if you just back away from it a little

It's the only Naughty Dog sequel I'd care for. I can't really imagine a Crash platformer in this day and age, I didn't really like the direction they took with later Jak games although they weren't bad and I really don't like Uncharted.

I only played UC2, finished it and I think it's a very mediocre game. It was good looking at the time but the gameplay is basically a long series of QTE. Everything is linear, everything is scripted, you can't do anything the devs haven't explicitly allowed etc...
Some parts are pretty impressive from a "cinematic" perspective but that's about it. The shooting is so dull and generic that it's not even worth mentioning.

My point is that basically everything feels like a QTE. There's no freedom at all in the platforming, you just press the magic jump button while holding the general direction of where you want to go and you just have to stand back and watch the prebacked animation.
No, not every game is scripted down the the smallest jump. Look at the Tomb Raider reboot for instance, it's not an amazing game but at least the platforming feels organic and you can interact with the level geometry in an intuitive manner for the most part. In Uncharted you will only catch a ledge if the devs have decided that you could catch this particular ledge right there. If it's not part of the script you can't use it.

It sounds to me like you just don't allow yourself to like linear games - that or you only watched a lets play and pretend like you've played it. Most people consider it a blast to play through the game just on the set linear path that it gives you. Just like people considered it a blast to play Half Life on the scripted path it forced you through. Even if the game automates a lot of the animation, Drake still doesn't climb unless you tell him to. Is that not the definition of control?
UC2 feels like an 16 hour long interactive movie where you control the main character, and I really don't understand why people say that that's a bad thing. It's a tremendous accomplishment in gaming to so perfectly blend the experience of the two mediums. The only other series able to successfully mimic what they did after all these years is tomb raider reboot.
Also most of the combat segments are not linear at all, especially those that let you be stealthy. The stealth in the game feels amazing

I really dont think TLOU plays all that similar to Uncharted. It is another TPS that it uses the same engine, yes, but it is much slower with no climbing, no sticky cover, more realistic gunplay, and a much bigger emphasis on stealth. The most similar thing is probably the way the melee system works.
