>not from a deep understanding of how awful the game mechanics are
CoD really is a poorly designed game for most iterations. Pictured is Blops3.

It is wrong OP. Sometimes the public gets it right. If you had that attitude with other things you'd never get to enjoy ice cream or pornography.

It is okay as long as you also complain about that game and don't simply avoid playing it.
>>
Because most games that I see are popular, I don't play any games. I simply complain on /v/ pretending to play them.
>>
>>336003852
If it were simply out of contrarianism, than yes.

But if it was a game where the experience was defined mostly by the playerbase (WoW for example), then it wouldn't be wrong to avoid it for disliking that.
>>
people don't hate on popular games just because they are popular. in order to become popular, you have to appeal to the lowest common denominator and make your game accessible to mouthbreathers and soccer moms. that's not to say all popular games are bad, some of them can be fun despite their overwhelming simplicity.

t. guessing

no that's just how the entertainment industry has always worked.
>>
>>336003852
Nope, I 100% recommend this approach, it saved me a lot of money.

I KNOW that the Souls games are shit because of their fanbase.
I KNOW that CoD games are shit because of their fanbase.
I KNOW that Zelda games are shit because of their fanbase.
>>
>>336004884
So its okay to avoid kids from WoW/LoL/CoD/Halo/MuhSouls if its because of shitty community?
>>
>>336003852
No, but avoid communities of those games. Outside of games, I mean.
>>
>>336005612
Nope. PKMN became popular because it's a fun game. Gears is a competent shooter. RTS' are simple enough that most of them prosper.
>>
>>336003852
Just play whatever you want you pathetic loser of a faggot
>>
>>336005724
pokemon is actually the best example of what i mean. it's as basic and barebones as an RPG can possibly get.

Absolutely, that's called being a hipster. I know where you're coming from because a lot of the time you can equate popularity to something being shit, but you really need to broaden your horizons and actually play shit so you can have a fully formed opinion on it.

You'll understand more when you grow up a bit.
>>
>>336005875
It's provisional of roleplay and fantasy, not to mention lots of variety.
>>
Of course it is, you should form your own opinions.

That fucking post is so accurate.

Please dont tell me you base your gaming decisions on boards like this or other- to you unknown people - in general ?

Its fucking simple: You play what you like and gives a good time.
>>
Sometimes when I want to play Dark Souls I think about all the memes and the circlejerks here on /v/ and it kinda puts me off. I don't know if I'm a hipster or if I just feel bad about associating myself with these kind of people.
>>
>>336005632
The question here is the direction of the game. Call of Duty is mostly a Multiplayer title where you really cant avoid the " direct " contact with other players ( unlike some Strategy titles for example )
So yes you have to put that in mind, especially when you dont want to switch all team communication off.
>>
>>336006234
I don't find DaS to be a deep game though, for its gameplay.

There were some posts that it's R1^, but that's been my criticism from 1.
>>
>>336003852
Westacuck popular shit is usually all trash.
There are some gems with popular gook shit, eg. Monster Hunter
>>
>>336003852
Sure it's just not worth your time when the entire game was spoiled by it's abysmal fanbase non stop shouting about how great every single important plot point is.

Looking at you undertale.
>>
>>336003852

Not necessarily, but maybe not for the reasons you might think.

I like to go in a game completely fresh. If the game is popular there's a very high likelihood that I already know a lot about it. So the more "obscure" games end up being more enjoyable experiences because there's a greater sense of discovery, and no preconceptions to get in the way.
