the only thing that bugs me about amiibos is locking content behind them (having them as a shortcut/cheat to content is fine). i also dislike how much time gets dedicated to them in videos.

I literally never gave a shit about people spending money on paraphernalia of things they enjoyed. Dakis, figmas, action figures, posters, artbooks, special editions, etc.
Amiibo is just the next step in the long march of merchandise. They unlock things in games, they're cool little figurines, and they're cheap and collectible. The quality is arguable, but they're perfectly fine as they are.
My only concern is how they're going to work Amiibos across generations. In any case, Amiibos are far better inclusions than some special editions, especially for shit like #FE
