So this pretty much confirmed to be GOTY right? If the coming episodes can keep up with this quality.
>>
redpill me on the episodic release schedule.
>>
>>335994669
They release one episode whenever they finish it
>>
>>335994304
i wanna get this game but denuvo is holding me back

dont wanna waste money on a broken bad product
>>
>>335994304
so is it true this game is only 13 bucks on steam? if i buy it do I need to buy another thing or is 13 bucks enough to play?
>>
>>335995638
12 bucks is only the "intro pack". You gotta pay extra for Sapienza and the upcoming levels.
>>
>>335995996
so what exactly is the intro pack?
>>
>>335995638
I think you need the intro pack to be able to play any other released levels, but from that point you can just buy the levels you want

>>335996076
Tutorial levels and the Paris stage, the paris stage is pretty good
>>
>>335996117
>buy per level

is this a meme or are you serious? cause i dont understand shit of the pricing on steam
>>
>>335994304
Shillman
>>
>>335996227
Yes, you can either buy the game in parts for $12 each or whatever, or you can buy the whole thing for $60
>>
>>335996321
i dont have so much money

why cant i download it?
>>
>>335994702
which seems to be 2 months
>>
>>335994304
It's a sweet map but you can tell its rushed. im on ps4 and theres a forklift you can turn the alarm on for to distract a guard and said guard just stands there in front of the forklift like a giant asshole forever because he doesnt know how to turn it off. in the same area (this is in the cave where the virus is) there are two scientists standing near a light connected to a generator that you can turn off to knock one out or distract them to slip past. when i left the generator on and the female scientist saw a gun i forgot to pick up she walked off told a guard about it in a males voice
>>
soon

https://a.uguu.se/jqrxoo_ElusiveTarget.webm
>>
I don't know about GOTY yet, but I do know that I had a ton of fun with it so far. Let's hope the episodes maintain this level of quality.
>>
>>335996773
So what happened to the paris one
>>
>>335996919
There will be one in Paris as well. You need to kill male model who is Blackmailer and receive his usb flash card.
>>
>>335994304
It's okay except for the part where you need GTX 980 to play on ultra with 60 fps
Also goddamn devs broke dx12 version in just one patch, what the fuck? They can't even afford QA now? Not that it matters since as far as I'm aware there's no difference between it and dx11
>>
So was there a decision between Gary Busey and Gary Cole?
>>
>>335994304
While I'm really enjoying it, I don't think it can be called GOTY until it is fully out.

Going on shooting sprees on this game is actually pretty hard. I had to give up and start quickloading at times instead of trying to do it all in one run.

Motherfuckers know how to flank you and it only takes like 5 shots to get you down.
>>
>>336000893
And the agency MP is completely useless.
I think I got most of my kills with the pistol in Paris.
Also, what is the body count in Paris? I got 297, but I think I missed some.

Am I the only one that is actually enjoying the story and loving the cutscenes?
>>
>>336001562
>story

they're doing this shit again?
>>
>>335996674
>when i left the generator on and the female scientist saw a gun i forgot to pick up she walked off told a guard about it in a males voice
I experienced the same thing. One of the male voices is in one of the female models.

I don't think the level is unfinished at all, though, it's well designed, fun and varied. It just has a few bugs, like all Hitman games do.
>>
>>336001725
So far there is no "story", just vague hints that this guy is out for revenge to someone, calling some of 47's hits and in the end probably wants to kill him too.
>>
>>336001725
Skippable great quality cutscenes between the missions. No cinematic experience etc.
>>
>>335996773
I'm guessing this is some sort of leaked info from the files? When are they actually releasing the first elusive target?
>>
>>335999976
Yeah. Busey won.
>>
>>336001962
The cutscenes are really well done. I just hope they start explaining who the guy is soon.
>>
>>336001725
Every Hitman game has had a story. There's a difference between a cool story that is implemented in the hits (Silent Assassin, Blood Money) and a shitty story that gets in the way of the hits (Absolution)
>>
>>336001562
Me too. I'm really interested in where it's going.

>>336002083
They've already explained plenty. Shadowy people have been gaining power from using 47 as an Agent to kill anyone they want. He despises 47 for this and is using him to shift the balances back.
>>
>>336001827
Are you saying woman cant have male sounding voices? Because if you are that is sexist, woman can have male voices in games and i praise the devs for standing up for womans rights.
>>
>>336002480
Must have missed when they said that
>>
>>336002706
All of this is very heavily implied if you pay attention
>Powerful men have fallen, but by the same token, others have risen. Do you realize what kind of world you've been shaping? Does the ICA? Does Diana? I live in that world. I have see the consequences. I have felt the costs. That's what defines me.
>>
>>336002260
It's not only the implementation that was the problem in Absolution. It also had no class and subtlety at all.
>>
imo the only hitman game that had a decent story was contracts. I think that a minimalistic approach of storytelling suits hitman the best.
>>
Did anyone enjoy the hitman movie? I watched it the otherday in 4k hdr and it exceeded my expectations by miles.
>>
>>336002503
(you)
>>
>>336003301
no
>>
>>336003301
Seriously? It was goddamn awful.
Did you expect it to rape you and kill your family?
>>
>>336002934
Absolution was very inspired by grindhouse.
Which is an odd fit for the series desu
>>
>>336000893
It worked fine until i reached the laboratory, at that point the UMPs kind of shat on me
>>
I got the game on eBay for $20
I already had the intro pack but I'd spend $50 on episodes 2/3/4/5/6

$35 for this entire game is good.
>>
>>336003868
i dont have money can i play?
>>
>>336003121
I liked Contracts story and how disjointed it was, plus that great final Leon the Professional mission (with half the briefing done, which was sweet)

But I think Silent Assassin and Blood Money were also pretty good stories. Hell, even C47 had a decent story beneath that mess of a game.
>>
>>335994304
>confirmed to be GOTY
nope, just shills
>>
>>336003567
It ended abit quick but other than that i enjoyed it. I liked how he changed clothes was a nice nod to the game. That bit with the car being pinned and the singapore gardens bit visually looked great. Also 47 had abit of a weird shaped head .

I feel that the series had a darker tone from Contracts onward, and I liked how they made Hitman 2016 a bit lighter.
>>
>>336001562
Me too, i'm excited to see what Troy Baker villain is up to. Not sure if it'll be covered sufficiently in 6 missions though.
>>

can someone else buy it for me?
>>
>>
>>336004183
On the topic of story, did anyone else feel like H2's story had some wasted potential?

Within the first two missions, they introduced this really interesting premise of 47 having an existential crisis as he's forced to come to terms with what he is. Then, at St. Petersburg, they drop this plot and replace it with one about chasing a nuclear weapons shipment around the globe.
>>
>>336001562
Yeah, I like how the handle it in this one, reminds me of Blood Money. Some cutscenes, other lore and story elements are scattered across the levels.
Also, villain's VA is pretty damn good.
>>
>>336004481
The developers said that this season is just setting things up. So I'm assuming that the last cutscene of this game is gonna be something like 47 finding out about him or something
>>
>>336004802
Aww that's too bad.

I can afford it and sort of want to play Sapienza, but fuck the DRM and episodic bullshit that they're forcing on us.

Supporting and keeping a blind eye to such bullshit is precisely why in the future people will constantly do the same things over and over, and you retarded kids just don't get that.

Besides, the game is objectively worse in design than Blood Money. That's the unfortunate truth, from the simplification of certain systems (ranks, money, saves) to stealth being overpowered.

No, they shouldn't, they should just held to the same standards as everyone else.

The sheltered autist problem is one of those people being given special treatment.
Sure they might not amount to much in the end (they might though, programmers *can* in the right circumstances make bank, autists are prime candidates for those jobs)

You only don't have a normal life because you choose to live they way you are and some idiot leftists decided it was good idea to support that.
>>
>>336005438
They supposedly patched that out. I wouldn't know, though.

As for the Always Online DRM, you can play missions offline, but you need to be Online to do challenges, contracts, escalations and have the unlockable weapons (including stuff like a Sniper Rifle). Although the system is pretty lenient now, if you go offline, the game just pauses and lets you retry connection whenever you want to continue.

I thought this game looked like a step back in the right direction for this franchise when they announced it. But then when I found out it was gonna be released in parts I lost all interest.

The biggest flaw I find in this game is that contracts mode is poorly implemented.

As in you can do contracts anyway you wish - they should have added more forced limitations to pass certain hits, for example the ability to kill someone using a specific weapon in suit only with no alarms or bodies found with this all being required to pass the mission.

Instead contracts is very bare bones and verything is [optional] so you can still pass and get a higher score without doing the optional part, which is illogical to me

Well, let's ignore the fact he smothered his mother because she seems like a bitch that got him as crazy as he did. Let's also ignore the fact he's making a virus that can kill anyone and planning to give it out to rebels.

He asks for the strands of DNA's of everyone who has ever bullied him while he was a child and he wants to kill all of them.

That's doing something wrong.

There was no way in hell they would have managed to release the game without reporting it countless time if they went the traditional way.

In Blood Money, the french guy that gave you the gun spoke English with a french accent, everyone else spoke in their native language, which was English, because almost the entire game was set in America.

That criticism is stupid, they've always had dialogue be in English and it would be retarded of them to not do that.

A Vintage Year was also not in English, and of course the receptionist would speak English to an obvious tourist. Whenever the NPCs talked among themselves or in any other situation, they spoke French. English was the exception, not the rule.

It's retarded to claim that they always spoke English when English was the exception, not the rule. There was also a reason to that, as there was far less dialogue back then.

I don't think season 2 will have the story take much more of a front seat

they can pretty easily just continue this route indefinitely: mission setup with you being given the mission and a rundown from diana, followed by a cinematic that shows you who's actually behind the hiring of the agency/exploiting the system

it's even more clear now than before that the ICA is being manipulated into pulling off hits that benefit the antagonist, and they just revealed that this is all in service of his crusade against an organization called Providence.
>>
>>336030243
Also I want a night level. Showstopper was supposed to be during the night but playtesters were having trouble navigating the symmetrical exterior.

That's either a bug, or you're getting recorded by cameras on a different network altogether and not erasing the data for that network. Erasing camera data does(or at least is supposed to) get rid of the recorded penalty.

The Contract creation itself was more or less the same, what Absolution had way better was an actual sorting system. You could search for Contracts, favorite Contracts, use codes to access contracts, you also had freedom of which disguises to bring with you (although that would probably be way overpowered in this game, where disguises actually fucking work)
There was a like bar, you could search based on most liked and shit, the whole 9 yards.

This just has newest, yours and featured, which is very disappointing in comparison.

I am actually surprised that I like the episodic format.

I play all levels multiple times I never did this before in hitman games. Not because previous games were worse but because previous games were like 9+ hours long and I didn't feel like touching it again after the binge.

That said would be better if they released them in a monthly cycle.

They still might. Could be that Sapienza was released so late after Paris because they had a lot of server problems that caused delays.

This game also encourages replaying heavily, and not just by skinnerboxing. I really like the alternative spawns and pickups you can unlock, also they really did improve the ways you can assassinate the target by a wide margin. Even BM had one, two at best, creative assassination strategies.

Proximity triggers. They didn't pull all of them, but back before they were way worse. Novikov would just stand at the top of the stairs as long as you didn't come near him, so if you crouched waiting for him to come to the phone call in the back, without ever going in the front, it would just never happen. If you entered the third floor from the wrong staircase, you could cause Dahlia to spontaneously stop in the middle of a conversation, turn around, and start the auction. And if you left during her starting of the auction to go do something else, it could even reset, forcing you to wait through the start again before you could get close to her.

Well, it's not finished yet. I do think the levels we've got and core mechanics are better than BM right now, but who knows what's going to happen in the future.

The gameplay things I want to complain about are mostly minor ones, like no ratings besides SA challenge or lack of signature sniper rifle briefcase as of now. BM style weapon upgrades would have also been nice, and so would peeking into keyholes be.

The proximity triggers drop it below BM for me, but they're actually starting to pull them out. Hope they stick with it and don't listen to the people asking for them back, or if they do, that they make them toggleable.

Also would be nice to be able to throw guns and cancel in the middle of lock picking again, but those are minor in the grand scheme of things.

That's why you always start you rampages in the lab, making sure to take out as many guards with stealth as possible, and then taking a position on top of one of the lab buildings, the one that you have to go through to get into the quarantine area. You can position yourself in the corner facing both stairways and let them come to you.

>>
>>336048192
Killing people is the main focus of the game so obviously your hits have plenty of creative ways to get rid of them, and that is besides the general snipe/explode/strangle/shoot in the face ones. The more fun ways generally make kills look like accidents.

>>336048370
I disagree, you can call normal stealth games puzzle games too since you have to know how to get through the levels without being seen there. Hitman has plenty of stealthing to be done, it's just that you have to switch disguises and not get your cover blown instead.
>>
>>336048634
Oh, and to add to my post, you can finish levels without actually killing anyone but your targets, in fact leaving unnecessary casualties is highly penalized. However, nobody prohibits you from shooting the place up - if you're able to, that is.
>>
>>336048831

It's different in the new game, the achievements reward you for creative kills rather than clean ones, necessarily. To get level 20 mastery of a level you pretty much have to have non-target casualties on some playthroughs.
>>
>>336048192
Just turn the Opportunity informations to a minimum or completely off in the options if you get the game. That way you can figure out stuff on your own.
>>
>>336049073
>the achievements reward you for creative kills rather than clean ones

>>336048634
cool. There's just one thing that kind of concerns me. I read a bunch about hitman fans bashing Absolution, but aren't these episodes coming out by the same devs? Was Absolution that bad or have the devs really improved in that short of a time?
>>
>>336048192
Sort of.

The premise of Hitman is that it's a stealth sandbox game. You're encouraged to play stealthily and minimise collateral damage through the scoring system, but there's nothing stopping you from going on massacres if you want to.

You can't play the game brainlessly no matter how you play though, because you'll get your shit pushed in if you don't plan ahead.
>>
>>336048509
I didn't feel like explaining my feedback because people already did. It is better than absolution. You are free to do the contract like you want to. Bomb, stab, garrote, disguise, anything. The game is not linears. The map are big. Very big. They are also very dense (Like the First Mission in Paris.) and alive. There's many weapon to choose from and to find. Contract mode, elusive target, challenge.

The game being episodic is just an impatience reasons. I don't think it's any worse than having the full game. You still pay the same price as you would if you pay each episode standalone.
>>
>>336049498
>It is better than absolution
Garbage is better than Absolution, stop comparing it to an utterly shitty game.
>>
>>336049412

They took the criticism aimed at Absolution to heart. The game was a commercial failure as well as a critical one, they figured they'd have to either go back to the old formula or quit entirely.

Although if we're being perfectly fair, I suspect the issue with Absolution was console limitation, pretty much. They built this fancy new engine which could do good graphics and huge crowds, then they used it to make corridor levels. I suspect this was pretty much a case of them having to choose between either gutting the engine or gutting the gameplay.

They're using the same engine for the new game but on next-gen hardware.

>>336049412
Yes, it was that bad. Yes, they have improved, or rather realized they fucked up (and kicked the cunt in charge of Absolution out).

The problem with Absolution was the fact that instead of being focused on being, you know, a hitman, most levels involved moving from door to door through very linear environments. Not only that, the main game feature, disguises, were nerfed so hard they were essentially useless most of the time unless you used magic instinct bar, meaning you had to hide from line of sight instead.

Also you really should play Blood Money. I know that some people dislike being told to just play it on PC, but it's a 10 year old game shit, so long already, it'll run on integrated cards. Its gameplay is timeless.
>>
>>336049870

Or you can just wait for the game to come out fully.
>>
>>336005262
In the end? He realized that in the first few minutes. Friend got kidnapped and he instantly went into murder mode.
>>
>>336049993
That's the point. The business model is set up to allow them maximum freedom to cut corners while making you pay up front.
>>
>>336050129
That's odd, because so far it has been excellent. What corners have been cut?

I'm getting jittery lads. It's been a while since I played a decent stealth game. I liked Styx master of shadows, but to be honest that game was budget as fuck and it showed. Bad. This game looks amazing, though, graphically. And the crowd density in the videos look excellent. If you will, just give me an example of one of your creative hits that you executed?
>>
>>336049967

BM had the exact opposite problem of Absolution though, it's not a stealth game at all because disguises are so powerful. It's basically a binary thing, once you get a disguise you have to try to get guards to be suspicious.

One of the reasons I like the new Hitman is they nailed the middleground of disguises, they're powerful but not invincible since certain people can still see through you and you have to hide from them.

>>336050129
>while making you pay up front.

How? Buy the parts in pieces as they come out or wait for the boxed version to be released. if anything you're given more choice than ever, pay less and risk disappointment, pay more and make sure you're getting a good product for your money or wait.
>>
>>336050259

Here you go family member, good example of creative kills and it's the tutorial so no spoilers.

Eh I have a 2011 Toshiba laptop, even if it did run ok, I doubt I could run it for more than 10 minutes. that's why I said I wish it could come to ps4 because Sony seems to be pushing a lot of these old classics you can't find anywhere else.

Do ya'll think the Sapienza episode is better or equal to the first one that came out a couple months back?
>>
>>336050295
>>336050218

They're well aware of the fact that people don't want to wait and doing it this way gets money up front before production is even finished.

If the product is failing they can essentially pull the plug at any time. Cut every corner and just release some garbage from reduced staff while keeping the money from people who have paid for the whole thing. It's a brilliant business model and with any luck it'll work out well for consumers this time, but it's completely in the company's favour.

>>336050259
My favorite Hitman level of all time is and will always be Tosca. In case you don't know, final scene of this opera is about a person ready to be shot except his love switched the guns and the guy knows about it except not really, there are live rounds and he dies for real but his love thinks he's alive for a while.

Thus you can snipe the guy from the lighting booth or, to add to the ironing, swap the prop gun the character is executed with with the real one.

>>336050295
I agree about difficulty balance, Hitman World really did it best.
>>
>>336049967
>but it's a 10 year old game
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
If you had asked me I'd have guessed that Silent Assassin is 10 years...
Thanks for making me feel old.
And ofr the people sayong disguises were just as bad in SA as in Hitman: Abortion: I am pretty sure guards were more suspicious than in BM, but disguises definitely were not as useless as in Abortion.
>>336050030
Maybe you're right. I was jsut thinking of the ending monologue. But it kidna seemed as if he only made contact with ICA again to gain intel on the Padre at first, before realizing he can't escape from his nature. None of us can. That is why I am sitting at hone alone posting on /v/ after drinking 4 beers.
>>
>>336050576
I personally like Paris as much or even better because I like crowded event assassinations the most but Sapienza is way more open of a level.
>>
So I've been living under a rock for the last few months, what the hell is going on with this game and what is all this episodic shit?

Is the game actually good and feels like the good ol hitman games?
>>
I'd actually consider getting this if it didn't have that obnoxious DRM slapped on it.
>>
>>336050756
Some SA levels were ridiculous, like Tunnel Rat or everyone's fucking favorite Hidden Valley but it definitely was much more bearable, except maybe for "running means cover blown" it had.
>>
So will all the main missions gonna have 2 targets to kill?
I'm not complaining, I think it makes the missions better, I'm just wondering if this is gonna keep happening or is it just for the first 2 missions?

Weapons? IDGAF except for the sniper rifle with better zoom and penetration (but no silencer)
But we finally got a lethal poison vial.
>>
>>336050781

Yes, pay attention, the first level was great and the new one that came out earlier this week is one of the best in the entire series.
>>
>>336050259
In the most recent mission there is a target who murdered his mother and his convinced that her ghost is haunting her.

If you play around with some of the objects in his villa (his mother's chair lift, her old gramophone etc.) he will believe that the ghost has returned and will attempt to leave the villa in a seaplane.

Once he's in the air, you can blow the plane out of the sky using an antique cannon placed on some nearby ruins.
>>
>>336051021
I doubt there's any reason for them to have only two since it varied in all Hitman games. One target which is extremely hard to reach would be just as fine, or a target and some task, or VIPs, or three targets.
>>
>>336051117
Alright, now whats this bullshit im hearing about some anal DRM its using?
>>
>>336050954
I actually kinda liked the running thing after a while. Great feeling of suspense when you knew one of the guys you sedated could wake up any minute (which doesn't happen anymore) while you had to slowly walk away in order not to get shot.

AND WTF IS UP WITH THAT AXE
>>
>>336051235
Denuvo and always online. Yeah, it is pretty bad. It's one of the few real and unfortunately major flaws this game has.
>>
What is the point of ICA sound device? I never used it.
>>
>>336051235
It's using two DRM at the same time, there's a lot of shilling going on around in the Hitman threads every since Episodic releases were announced, so beware.
>>
>>336050580
>Cut every corner and just release some garbage from reduced staff while keeping the money from people who have paid for the whole thing.

Which is why you don't buy up-front but only buy when they release a new piece of content htat people say is good.

If anything, that's protection against them abandoning the game halfway through, they're relying on continuous revenue now since the $15 I paid for the starter pack and the $10 I paid for the new map isn't enough for their budget. They can't abandon me since I won't give them any more money if they do.

I really don't feel like having to do every fucking challenge in the game just to unlock weapons. This is why this game burns me out so quickly, it feels like a god damn shopping list of chores just to get a few new weapons.
>>
>>336051362
Damn, and here I was considering buying it.

O well. Fuck em.
>>

>have to give a bunch of extra shit like purchase invoice to amd to verify i actually bought the game

typical amd being consistently shit. i never had this problem with the nvidia division code i got off ebay.
>>
>>336051345
The movement speed had horrible balance in SA. Not only were the levels too large to traverse at a leisure pace, your sneaking speed was slower than enemies walking (unless you glitched it) so you mostly had to rely on scripted back turn moments and time them very carefully. Then there was the save game limit.

I really wish running in this game made NPCs suspicious, just a little bit would be nice.

I can't find a single reason not to run in this game which completely breaks immersion.
>>
>>336051959
why are you playing on some shitty ultra low setting with no AA
>>
>>336052240

If that's low settings then i'm impressed.
>>
>>336051408
Makes a beeping noise, causing a guard to investigate. Oh, and if anybody sees you drop it they'll go OMG CRIME NOTICED BETTER CALL THE GUARDS
>>336051428
You really don't have to do very challenge, and reaching 20 mastery really seemed far quicker in Spienza than Paris.
>>336051752
Well, the save game limit depended on the difficulty level. And on the topic of glitches: I really liked the "drop all weapons and pick them up again so you can dual wield the silenced pistol with another one"

And don't get me started on the fucking scarecrow, that one was fucking spooky.
>>
>>336051959
I agree, but there is a small reason for walking. Walking doesn't generate noise, while running will cause nearby NPCs to turn towards you.
>>
>>336052295
idk about the other guy, but this is all low except for LOD+shadow settings on medium, with only 8x anisotropic filtering.
>>
>>336052580

I remember the days when low settings meant puddy wall textures and a foggy draw distance.

Today's low settings are basically still very good looking.

You'll buy a 15$ game because your bored and forget about it.

You'll then see a new map a few months and go. Gee that 15$ dollar game was alright, Want to see if it keeps going well. By the time the third one comes out you spent the whole 60$ or you at-least spent half.

...Game is fun though. Combat is tight and some of the best Stealth AI I have seen in a while.

No, the goty of the year will be Blood and Wine by CDPROJEKTRED. A full-game that is the sequel of the long awaited the witcher 3 : 20 hours of gameplay with a map the size of the skellige's isle

Probably, it makes sense as it gives you more opportunity to explore the level - especially as the targets are often located quite far from each other - if there was just one you'd just beeline straight to where they were
>>
>>336055376
you would think that they would keep the person knocked out, because they can get right back up.
