Yea I would really love to have a single shot musket. Was thinking about that today. Onimusha had one so I don't see why this one wouldn't. Hopefully firing it would also alert nearby enemies. So it can basically one-shot kill any random mook, but it's gonna bring enemies to you.

I just beat the boat boss on my third try, by staying away and baiting attacks, then poking him with mid spear form. Weirdly, the first phase was the hardest part. I didn't expect the second phase(my third and final try), and I thought I was dead for sure, but he actually became way easier at that point.

i think ki pulse is when you're attacking if you watch your ki/stamina it does some kind of white reload thing before it starts regening stamina and if you roll/change stance it'll either give you stamina back or just start loading stamina again.

Sloth is the best one, but kekkai is great for negating the yokai shields as it purges the yokai corruption fields. Throw that up and they don't regenerate their stamina.

First stage is a lot easier. If they are stuck on the first shrine, I usually try and lead them to the ladder so they can speed up the process. I don't think most players know that going to the shrine heals you

When I get people to the 2nd shrine, I usually run as fast as I can to the area with the oni and massacre the 4 people near the hut. The key is to do it as fast as possible because people usually go in, get rushed and die. Also you have to try and pull the oni out of the house, i've seen many a dumbass try to 1v1 the oni in the house.

I try not to beat the whole thing for the host, my general plan is after luring out the oni is to have my host kill him while I stand around and can draw agro if it gets to bad. If they can't handle one oni, when they get to the flaming village they are fucked. Even more so on the 2nd stage where the oni's do not stay dead if you kill them
This is a really well done Alpha.
I'm looking forward to getting better at this game. Combat is incredibly satisfying.

That one took me awhile too. It was the only thing I didn't find before beating the stage so I had to redo the stage again to get it and ran around for awhile before I saw it while walking around the house.
I really enjoyed the demo and I don't even mind the shameless copying of souls mechanics. I think it stands pretty well on its own with the different combat system, setting, and other mechanics.

It's got the skeletal frame of Demon's Souls, but the combat itself is a completely different animal. There's elements and influences of a lot of thing in there (Bits of Onimusha, Souls/BB, Ninja Gaiden, Way of the Samurai, and even a little Genji), but it feels distinctly like its own animal.
Anyway, it won't be out for at least another 6 months, so just keep an eye on it and don't do anything yet. Plus you can see if this NEO thing actually amounts to anything substantial.

You're doing it wrong.
High is for damage. Mid is for parries and side steps. Low is for maximum ki pulse chains and infinite dodging.
In the demo build the max upgraded low stance does the most damage in one full bar.
Ok. So if consoles can't run at 60fps why not just tone down the graphics so that they do? Why are all exclusives so shit? RIP Bloodborne.

Basically it has a system with three stances for each weapon, high mid and low, which change damage, stamina and style of your attacks. There's no shield, you hold the weapon in both hands and block with it. You can customize your moves with combos and specials and there's magical animal powers so it's got a more action game focus than DS's slower and simpler combat.
In general it's much harder on the stamina meter and running out of stamina is debilitating, but as you attack an enemy you can tap one of the shoulder buttons to gather Ki generated with each hit to refill your stamina bar a bit. It's kinda like regaining health a la BB or that ring in DS but for stamina, and it changes the game flow. It's pretty unforgiving too so you're encouraged to draw out and pick off enemies one by one.
It plays more fluidily than Dark Souls too, but doesn't really lose any of the depth as far as I can tell.

So I unlocked the Sword Ki move and don't like it. Is there any way to get my kick back? Both moves are activated by pressing triangle at the end of a combo I went into the move configuration menu and it doesn't let me change it out. Am I stuck with this shitty move now?

Put it on action mode from the main menu, it prioritizes performance over graphics.
I just hope KT and team ninja don't fuck it up. A game with that kind of drop system would maybe need something like a hardmode for levels where max level gear drops, a shit ton more weapon classes since all weapons in one class share the same moveset and maybe a playstyle that doesn't rely solely on weapons like summoner or something like that. The combat in the demo was fun but I just can't see it be something lasting or something I want to replay multiple times, especially since the gear difference between mission 1 and 2 is so fucking high that you basically don't want to run older missions since you gain almost nothing while getting overpowered as fuck from the gear you get in higher ones.

It's a bloody demo, the fact that there's gestures at all is surprising.
That burning village is fucking intense. Lots of enemies in close quarters, plus those fucking Oni, just made every encounter a very real threat. I definitely need to get more of those flaming shurikens, as they do damned good work against Oni.
I'm hoping we get some good weapon variety in the final game. Seeing some "ninja" styled weapons would work, as well as something a bit more mystical. It would pair nicely with the Ninjutsu and Onmyo magic.

Fight Nue again, it's a guaranteed drop to the point where you can use rng to get a better spear load out. Also yeah, spoilers, Tombo's a spear.
Funny enough, and I haven't really tested this yet but; in the second level, in Oni town, there's a shrine with a dead body on top of it close to where the tree is. When I finally got to the body to loot it, it dropped a Tombo for me. Obviously the Nue one is all around better since it's a higher level but it was interesting to see it dropped.
The ghost with Raikir, if I remember right, is in the first level in that cave the ninja oni guards. The Revenant uses the developer's name or something.

I love this alpha and can't wait for the game
The enemies imo are not too hard at all as they have little health mostly and the enemies that have more health and stamina are littered in just the right amount also the shortcuts and shrines are placed masterfully and the game truly makes me feel like death is just around the corner.
There are some issues:
1: Despite being locked on I watched William plainly miss the enemy several times, as in him plainly attacking a good in game meter to the left or right of the enemy for what I think is no reason at all. They need to fix that.
2: When Geralt is locked onto an enemy and moving backwards he faces the camera instead of the enemy - this is really bad because you have your back to the foe and thus take double damage from enemy attack even when dodging and if you hold L1 to defend he turns very slowly.
The other main gripes I had with the game so far was with the boss; for two reasons
1: He had too much health, I am more than a high enough level with most points pumped into skill relative to what other people were on when facing him (Onkryo or whatever) and it just felt like I was wailing on him for forever at some points, like the first phase became so long that I would literally not stop thinking about a way I wish I could damage him more at one time.
2: Some of the hitboxes need to be fixed up. For an Alpha they are pretty good, but there were times where I saw the ball and chain land about a meter and a half away from me and get damaged by it, not often but it always happened on the one handed smack (I think) Also I could never quite tell after his initial one or two handed slam whether he was going to spin around or not and thus whether or not it was safe to attack. The second phase was much better, he never hit me once when throwing a ball despite facing him maybe 14 times or so. ALTHOUGH there were times I felt where for no reason at all one of his hand attacks was UNDODGABLE

Bait his horizontal swipes and try to get in behind him. You usually have time to get in a couple of hits before he'll do his horizontal sweep counter, which can be blocked for about 40 stamina. He's also weak to fire, so switch your Guardian Animal to Kato.
Second phase is a lot easier, just stay away from him when he's obviously charging up for physical attacks and when he starts throwing the wrecking balls, be prepared to roll to the sides.
Also, his horns can be damaged, which will stagger him, but this can only be done once.

Anyone else run into a glitch that completely fucks your stamina bar and ruins the game?
Using any attack depletes it fully and I can only run 4 step before being exhausted, and after my stamina runs out from pressing the attack button once, it stays red for 10 seconds and I can't do shit.
I died, and it was still fucked, I turned the game off and played it a few days later and it's still fucked.
Does anyone know how to fix this? or am I going to have to start all over again.
