The crafting in Fallout 4 was decent in theory. It allowed you to customize the fuck out of a weapon. In practice though it meant they added almost no weapon types, and the actual act of crafting was essentially upgrading a part because every change was an upgrade.
It would have been great if they added more weapon variety and made it so crafting wasn't about straight upgrades but lots of sidegrades and compromises.
