Personally i feel that this is a good thing to have, and while the rate of deterioration can be adjusted, i see no use in upping that 50+%. The reason being that you gather money , and it stands to reason that you can buy all the whetstones you want. Also, you'd want to eliminate the "drake sword" issue. More on that below

The loot system needs tweaking obviously, as some other anon said it's ridicilous how a one of a kind weapon that's lvl 20 can be objectively worse than a lvl 18 normal weapon, simply because the stats don't make sense aside from a small damage upgrade. The loot works well imo since it's obviously also used to offer alot of things to the shrine for exp and extra items, with the ability to "lock" your favourite weapons so you don't accidentally sell them.

What we also need to take into consideration is that the game seems to favor weapon TYPE over spesific weapon. That being said, there is a thing that shows up on the game that noone can do anything with yet, which is familiarity. You might have noticed on the weapon select screen that there's a separate stat for that, which can either mean you use a weapon TYPE to get access to higher leveled skills, or it's designed for a particular weapon (which i don't personally believe is the case) in order to strenghten your own weapon, the logic being familiarity with a weapon would mean you use it better, making the durability better and giving you extra strenght.

The difficulty seems to stem from people playing it as something they shouldn't, namely a souls game. From what i understand this game relies on stamina much heavier than souls ever did, even going as far as to punish you severely for mismanaging it.

There are also several tools avaliable for you to lighten the load so to speak. RPG's have the somewhat unique nature of built in "handicaps" which would be leveling and even summoning other players for help. This way you can make the game vastly easier by grinding until you feel it's manageable. You can also obviously challenge yourself more by not leveling up at all. If not that, you have several weapons that are easily usable to handle crowds (spears) as well as specialized equipment to pick someone off (bow, throwables).
What i will say though is that some equipment is damn near useless imo, like the medusa powder since it won't work unless you literally trap someone in a corner with it so it triggers. It makes me think it' suspposed to be used with a paralyse weapon, but it's still too iffy since it gives maybe one or two ticks before the enemy is pushed out of the cloud.

What i appreciate is the fact that you aren't actually completely locked on, meaning y ou can still focus on a particular enemy against a group, and still be able to handle the "lesser" enemies. You can choose wethe rto run freely and reposition, or you can nudge the stick instead to focus completely on the enemy in front of you, though i will add that we could use some kind of interaction to "lock" your character to the walking if you'd so like to.

You get more of them in the second level, so much so that I have to leave them behind a lot of the time because I can't carry anymore.
They are kind of rare in the first area. I think this is because they are trying to hammer in the idea that you should be swapping weapons regularly.
Also, try dodging into breakable boxes and such. That's when you will find most of them.

I want a "use now" button for items on the ground. The caps for whetstones, glue, water, etc, are pretty low, which is fine. And they're not exactly things I'm going to keep on the D-pad. So why not save a step and let me hold triangle or something to use the item from the ground, instead of opening my inventory, using one, then picking up the new one?

at the same time though, and maybe this is just because its a demo- they sort of drop you in there and tell you to have at it while you dont fully get the mechanics yet, and immediately toss a 3v1 at you if you missed the path to sneak by them. (which is another issue, loads of times I went in circles because I couldnt notice a small narrow path- second stage is also a bit too dark. cant see shit and theres no torch or anything, meaning enemies can gank you while you cant see them lying on the ground- this is especially heinous with the crawling zombies)
is anybody here gonna believe me when I say the demo was really fucking easy for me. I went with a strength build, axe mainly. Got to level 22 and beat the last boss. He killed me three times because I was still figuring out the game and his attack pattern, but once you realize the boss sucks at hitting you once you're next to him, he will barely lay a scratch on you. I one shotted a lot of enemies and killed the boss in like 15 hits.

PCfat here. Serious question, since I see so many of Nioh threads. How good is the game. Like how is the combat? Slow, fast, simple, complex? I like the souls games a lot, ever since Demon's Souls on my PS3. I've heard this game is a lot like them, is it true, or are people just memeing because both are apparently hard? I also like games like DMC, Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, and evenGod of War. i think it's great. it draws inspiration from souls, but does enough different to stand on its own. Basically if you go in like you would ina souls game you'd lose.
One of the big differences is how stamina works. It it empties, you're left vulnerable to catch your breath for a second or two. Whereas in souls you can roll until it empties, run abit and then roll some more. That's not an option here. Luckily the enemies have the same issue, and can be staggered or be out of breath if you empty their stamina. The weapons are distinctly different, and each weapon has 3 stances. It's also samurai as fuck.
I didn't like souls games, but i'd heartily recommend this from the demo alone.

It's literal the most optimal way to kill enemies by chaining together combos or cancelling out of attack strings for more advantageous positioning without outright withdrawing from an encounter. Yes, you can play the game however you want but your forfeiting a mechanic that allows for more depth in combat. Not to mention, there are more moves/weapon skills that quite literally depend on your ability to ki pulse like the high stance spear change.

Use the Talisman that instantly destroys the black shit that Yokai leave behind.
Then, when you've got the Nu down to his stamina gauge being red, unleash your Living Weapon and just keep smacking the shit out of his face with any attack.

After beating the levels solo I tried helping people get that mark for the first map. Jesus, so many people just running into 3 man mobs and dying instantly. If I spawn on the beach with a new guy, I expect the coop session to be done in 5 seconds. I could be fighting 5 guys at once, and the coop people will run in front of me right when everyone is attacking. I had 3 people so far run into the fire and die, 2 guys fell in the fucking ocean, one somehow killed himself following me down a small cliff and countless others taking the right path into the village instead of going around before I even make it up the hill to meet them when I spawn in.
The boss fights also are relatively short since everyone for some reason wants to go full ballsy until he takes them down to an eighth of their health in one overhead, I've had so many times where I had him down to a tenth of his health and they go full desperation mode and end up running into his 3 hit tard combo.
Out of the 50 or so times I connected, only 2 people managed to actually beat the first map.

Yes, I said I hardly needed it because I never really ran out of ki in the first place. when I ran out I would either ki pulse to get it back or back off for it to fully recover in 1-2 seconds.

I just used the hammer in pic. it has like 10% damage bost to yokai and what I did is I maxed out the ki consumption rate/stealing things and added the one axe skill for high stance.
Basically I just waited for him to shoot his laser and hit triangle once to do a two flip thing adding up to like 800~1k damage and just ran away and waited till I had a chance again. His claw moves are shit. Don't stay in too close.
