it's blatantly ripping off space serial cartoons, ralph bakshi, bebop, venture bros, etc. but what's worse is it's recycling bland source material like star fox. The point? The point is a dude made a fan animation about something he enjoyed. Other people have also enjoyed it. It doesn't have a deeper grand story. It's one guy doing something small.
And who said anything about budget? It's not the budget that makes a difference, it's the scale. Star Wars was a movie with dozens of people some of whom are considered masters of their crafts. This video is by one guy. He's not going to have the wealth of experience and resources capable of producing something on the level of Star Wars enough to find whatever 'point' you seem to demand of his work.
But he was able to make something that people have liked and considering the scale of the project that's a fine enough point in and of itself.
