Kaiden has no depth anyway, so there's no reason to give such a glorious ending. If Ashley dies to help save the galaxy while fighting alongside non-human allies, she redeems her family name and overcomes her prejudices at the same time. It works much better, thematically, to let Ashley die.

The reason why I stopped playing KOTOR2 right in the middle of it. Figured they'd never do what you have to in a game with "dark" and "light" choices. It's like all the dark-side choices are "more power or money" or simply acting insane for no logical reason. Sexuality doesn't even seem to be a thing, even though that's perfect dark-side material. Using your sexuality to get your way for females, or dominating another character as a male.

Yeah, I do get it. The movies are family movies. But it's not that uncommon for other branches of media to break those rules. I don't expect children to play RPGs or read books.
Also, Hollywood is the reason why I don't watch movies anymore. Because it's more math than anything else. From the casting choices, to action scenes, and romance... everything is calculated to reach and appeal to a broad audience. Never any surprises, never taking any risks. That's so boring.

That's why I play video games. I want a certain production quality. Decent shots and sets, costumes and so on. Yes, there are some cheap movies I enjoyed a lot. Cube comes to mind. But my favorite movies are also Hollywood movies (The Truman Show). A small indie director can't really do that. Asset creation on PC is easier; may you be a polish company (like CD project) or Japanese (like Xenogears).
I still hope for change however. I've heard both the comic medium, and Hollywood follow a cycle of stagnation with safe money and creativity when consumers burn out on the same formulas.
