I do laugh when I'm on push to talk, but it's really just muscle reflex when I make any noise, when a roommate walks in and I talk to them sometimes I'll accidentally just push out of reflex.
That said, I only use push to talk because my mic pics up other shit in the room and my house is pretty busy and noisy, so I don't want other people in the call to have to put up with it.

There's multiple other reasons to use PTT, like living in a shitty noisy area with, say, construction going on, or even when its storming really loud. Sometime I'll play shit on my consoles as well, but still want to hear my friends on the PC, so I'll have the console audio coming out of my television speakers, and I wouldn't want to constantly subject my friends to that.
