If you play video games in moderation, and do not value the game over God (like playing games for an unhealthy amount of time, skipping things that you need to do to play videogames etc.) then there is no problem with it. A great deal of sins can be avoided simply by knowing how to balance your life around your needs and wants. As long as you keep your playtime balanced, you are not making videogames an idol. It can be difficult, as they can be addictive, but it is entirely doable.
