He's not particularly funny and his humor grew old 6 or 7 years ago, but he sounds like a decent enough dude.

He's a broken middle-aged man tired of video games but forced to continue playing catch-up with a medium he never had a passion for because he needs the money.

Mike is way better. Ever since I found out 99% of the gameplay in the videos is actually mike, it's just not the same. James is pretty much just an actor. He doesn't even edit J&MM, literally all mike.
I'm glad his daughter's alright though.
I think it's time to retire the nerd, really, 10 of the last 30 episodes have ALL had some sort of fake, copout "ending".
The character is a tired gimmick that should be retired.

well, i wish there was more classic nerd episode. The megaman one recently was pretty amazing. It really had that old "AVGN" feelings before desert bus. hongkong 97 was the worst example of new AVGN.
I liked the bad montage, the scat thingy he had, how he destroyed everything and his games.
Today, he's just another youtuber .. when he was one of the first in 2006. Very sad.
His older videos are comfy as fuck and will always hold a special place in my heart. That said, it's clear he no longer really cares about the AVGN and I hope he's able to move on to other projects he's more passionate about.
Once he started working on his movie it slowly changed how AVGN looked, sounded and felt.

James has a very good way of articulating his thoughts so something as technical as oldschool vidya can be easily understood even by the average person. His voice is also therapeutic as fuck, I could listen to him explain film and games all day. Shit's better than his out-of-touch lolsorandumb toilet humor. If the movie were just an hour-long documentary of the video game crash + ET review, it would have been fucking awesome.
