What happened?
What's so bad about cliffracers? You can sell their drops for some dosh and they're easy to kill.

There's where you're wrong buddy. Their hitbox was fucked and could be out of range of your weapon, while being able to hit you, and there was a lot of them. Dai Katanas with good Long Blade was really effective, but at lower levels, you don't have access to those nice things.

I'm a destructo mage with nothing but touch-based spells and have no problems with them. Maybe they behave differently in the OpenMW engine but I can run straight past them and they don't give a shit as long as I'm not in their field of view. If you want to fight, wait for them to close, then do the basic back-and-forth movement timing it so you're in their face when the spell casts / word swings I guess, and you're just out of their range while you're swinging / spell is "recharging". Aim for center mass and all is well.

Well I assumed it was only the renderer and ressource management that was overhauled, not things that change the gameplay.

Since the cliffracer issue was almost universally annoying as fuck, OpenMW probabably patched it.
