Do you still play it?

if so, show me your factory/base
>>
Posted in another friend. Early factory a friend and I build. Was a good spawn but aside from the initial large iron vein it was hard to find iron which forced me to learn how to make trains work.

Meant thread obviously. Here was my first attempt at automating blue science. I sat down in the morning with a cup of coffee and when I finished the setup realized my coffee was cold and it was four hours later.
>>
>>335772992
The final product (prior to logistics robots) for my research stations. Worked surprisingly well for the most part although blue circuits bottlenecked super hard because our oil refinery setups were pure unmitigated shit.
>>
>>335773084
General picture of most of our main base. Our power generation is way to the right. There are a lot of artifacts as well from earlier in the game (all those other steam engines just sitting there, e.t.c.).

how the shit are you using that much copper
>>
>>335773235
Hot damn anon that's fucking beautiful. Where in gods name did you get so much damn copper though?

My biggest gripe with the game is replayability and the ease of hitting the 'end' of the game without touching certain technologies. As much as I want to set up exorbitant rail stations all over the world outside of aesthetics or doing it just cuz there isn't much reason to bother. Also the aggressive expansion of bug nests means that you're less likely to expand because going out to a certain point means its more work than its worth.
>>
>>335773235
Also I really like that train crossing.
>>
>>335773235
>all that copper

But... why?

do you have different sections of the map for different types of ore?

Rockets and modules. But, as you might see I'm not quite using all that much copper - yet.
>>335773490
This game is played with resource spawn overhaul and no bugs
>>
after an intense, can't stop playing week I finally sent my first rocket up and decided I was bored and haven't played since.

its that kind of game. really fun but you'll burn out and want nothing to do with it.
>>
I split up from the main base because I wanted to build an outpost on my own.

I built in the middle of a huge dense populated area (enemies) so I have turrets surrounding my base (the walls are all turrets) with auto-reloading and auto-repairs.

I threw in a gimmick and decided that I wanted it all to be powered by the sun, so this is my electricity. I started only with a miner when I went out of the main base.
>>
>>335774105
And here's my production line before I got bored and quit playing.
>>
>>335772292

Game depends heavy on discovery and understanding how to biuld. Once start a new game about 5 times you realize the same path of progress must be taken again and again, and very little will change.

Not doing that much wrong tbf except making 1 assembler for each and every thing despite the fact that some things take 0.5 seconds to craft and some take 20. 1 red and green pot assembler only will be slow as fuck.
Doing 1 pump - 1 boiler - 1 generator. Boilers and generators can be chained together - there is a calculable optimum ration of pump to boiler to engine but only level 2 autists are allowed that info.

It scratches a certain itch, yes. Some people just like to tinker with things.

Other people like to jump into a shooter after work and move crosshairs over heads for a few hours.

Other people like to die 35 times against a difficult boss, before triumphing.

People get satisfaction from different things.
It may surprise you, but some may even enjoy all those types of games.

Different strokes.

I should get back to this, solve my oil problem (already pumped the wells in the base dry), and expand east
>>
>>335787606
I am always reluctant to start using the drones.
I like leading belts around in ever more confusing layouts.
But at a certain point, I cave to the convenience of having my most used items delivered to me.

I never knew blueprints can also save the configuration of logistic network items. Nice.
I mostly use them for impromptu laser turret emplacements
>>
>>335787801
yeah I know what they do
it's just by the time you get them up and running and have enough of them, you can just finish the game
>>
>Play Factorio for 2 days
>enjoy it
>suddenly realize there is literally no reason to keep playing
>haven't touched it since

The game was pretty neat but holy shit does it ever lack content and any end game goals
>>
>>335787916
Nigger, even if its not for building, a basic robot network will keep you constantly supplied with belts, inserters, electricity poles and all other stuff you'd have to walk to the production site. It will even take your junk away to free some inventory space
>>
>>335788031
Install the Shadow Mega Modpack, which makes production chains a good bit more complex, adds new resources and industries.
Well, overhauls most of the game, really.

Have a renaissance.

Playing factorio either drunk or otherwise under the influence is like a neverending nightmare.

You become aware of a production bottleneck. Go to fix it. When you arrive, you forgot why you went there.
When you remember, you notice, you don't have the material to fix it, so you go to pick up some more belts or whatever. When you are at the belt depot, you have forgotten what you needed belts for.

It is a very special kind of hell.
