Tf2 is great competitively. there aren't too many asymmetrical multiplayer games that are balanced and as long as you play 6s or highlander, the game is balanced. Both teams have a demo. both teams have a soldier. both teams have etc. It's balance through symmetry.
also they use nospread in compettive tf2 so some hitscan weapons don't have rng like in cs:go.
the skill ceiling is pretty high particularly if you play soldier or demo since you need to learn jumps/speedjumps and stuff.

I was on the fence but I played last beta and thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't remember the last time I got hooked to a game that was not progression based nor story driven. Maybe counter strike source? Overwatch is about the gameplay first, I like the idea of being able to jump into a match and not have to dedicate lots of time to the game but still have it be skill based and competitive if you choose to be.
Beta definitely sold me on it and I suggest trying it in the open beta next week.

If anyone thinks this game will be dead by christmas, they haven't played it. It's fantastic. Game feels fluid, level design is great, the art style is subjectively great, and it has a fantastic cast of character. Free updates for the games life, so far fantastic community. Been in the closed beta for like 7-8 months and I've had nothing but good times in it, in the maybe 300-400 games I've played there was one person shitting up the voice chat with some meme spam that sounded like he was a fuckin 15 year old straight off of /b/.
The only issue I can see someone having is the possibility of the microtransactions, but the loot boxes come so fucking often that it really doesnt matter.
Also the game is $40. I already preordered it, and it's the only game I've ever bought from Blizzard. I think they did a FANTASTIC job with it.
I won a copy from Taco Bell along with an $80 headset, so I can enjoy it with no investment in it actually being good.

Ults are perfectly fine. Like any game with a powerful ability, go into a skirmish/fight expecting them and know how to play around them. There are plenty of games that have abilities that are considered " ultimates" or just extremely powerful ones that don't have a reading on if the enemy has it or not. Likewise, You can tell if a Pharah or someone like Soldier 76 has an ult because of the way they play, just like if a team has a Mercy on it and they start getting SUPER aggressive, you can tell Mercy has her ult up and is ready to get a huge rez.

as someone who has played TF2 competetivly back in 09 or so and stopped playing right around the F2P update, i am really fucking looking forward to playing Overwatch.
TF2 is a dead corpse, only servers populated are 24/7 servers and the matchmaking update is too little too late, also don't care about coop stuff.

Somehow Blizzard forgot that you have to make a public crowd gamemode and not go full esports. The most fun comes from playing casually and not having to worry about winning if you suck at the game.
