Also they turned what would have been some generic bitch character into the "new" Shaundi, and aside from that, there was really no female love interest / T&A / it would have been majorly a sausage fest.
But I digress, as the characters were one of the least problems SR3+4 had.
It seems no one dev company fucking understands why people "suddenly" start to dislike an established game series, but it always boils down to the same thing.
Game 1
>Introduce a bunch of new concepts and game aspects, all neatly wrapped up in its own package.

Game 2
>Take Game 1, and expand it. Add more content, make it bigger, broader, add more detail and additional concepts and features, while still keeping everything the first game had.

>Take Game 2, and get rid of 30% of what it added. Change another 30% of what Game 1 and 2 were founded on into something rushed and less inspired, tack on some extra gimmicky features no one wanted, over-simplify the controls and mechanics of the series, and hire new writers to completely alter the canon and write a hollow, Hollywood-esque story, completely missing the spirit and content that made the series great.

That's the thing: In 1 and 2, the wacky, outlandish, crazy stuff was comic RELIEF. It was there to break up the ultra-violence, death, and occasional tragedy that the game provided. In 3 and 4, the wacky, outlandish stuff wasn't relief anymore, because it was the norm. There was no real tragedy and dark tones to be relieved from. It was just like a clown shouting and dancing in your face. If that happened after you just saw something horrifying, the juxtaposition might be amusing, but if you're having a good day, it would just be annoying.

No more clothing layers, no point in customizing cars because it was dumbed down as fuck and the shit you got as mission rewards like the vtol were better and more fun anyway (not to mention fucking flying in 4 made the whole thing pointless), no houses to collect and decorate, etc. Plus all the small details like cops being careful and holding their fire if you've taken a hostage, being able to mug people, pointless diversions like ho-ing, all gutted.

It was barely a ruse at all. She never pretended she did it on purpose and made it seem like a horrible accident while being chased by zombies in a snowstorm. The only way you might believe she did it is some sinister music plays when she talks about it and there's a really weird part where Kenny runs out to look for the baby after hearing about it, not even yelling at Jane for fucking up, and then comes back in pissed off at her and screaming that she's a murderer.
The way it's set up is clearly supposed to indicate that Kenny must have found some evidence out there that made him snap. If he did, then his actions would have been understandable and Jane took her ruse too far. As it stands, he just decides to murder a lady for no reason and Jane's idea is still stupid, but her point was correct.
Either way, the whole final confrontation was really forced because season 2 sucked. Being able to roll with both of them at the end, with them still bickering but setting it aside enough for Clem and the baby would have been the tightest shit.

I said it before in another thread, but they really dropped the ball by switching from Luke to Jane like that. They could have easily set up Kenny and Jane to be good foils of each other and make the player choose between their pros and cons. For example;
Jane would be a more 'logical' person, since she usually keeps her head level. She would probably keep from rushing into avoidable and risky situations and probably has pretty good survival instincts. In that same vein, however, she would be much more likely to leave you or the baby behind. The most you know for sure about her is that she will do whatever it takes to make sure SHE survives, which may mean the risk of your own survival if it comes down to it.
Kenny on the other hand would be the more 'emotional' kind of person. His emotions guide a lot of his actions, for better or worse. For instance, there are times when his anger and stubbornness comes out at inopportune times and escalate a situation, but on the flip side this means his connection to you runs deeper and he is more willing to take sacrifices for you (such as the beating). And while his willingness to take action is helpful, he would be less opt to changing these plans. But it does help that being with him you would usually be able to tell what he is thinking and there's no guessing about how he will handle a situation. He would probably also rather die then allow you and/or the baby to get hurt.

You know how embarassing fans get over their waifu? Well, the producer managed to get his VA waifu into the project about a year in, and allegedly large chunks of the entire story were rewritten to make her the heroine and there's a host of references in her bio making it sound like the real-life producer is her dream crush instead of the other way around. Also in-game she's kind of a smug bitch but everyone loves her anyway, just because the producer does.
