You don't even need an upgraded weapon to stop the curse. If you backstab any of the ones that are channeling it then its interrupted immediately.

I keep myself gimped on purpose, underleveled and weapon only +2 (so I'm in the lowest weapon bracket). This makes all the invasions and summons a breezee. If you need upgraded weapons to beat bosses then you might as well start summoning 3 sunbros to help you out.
