Tried playing this on PS4 and it didn't make any fucking sense at all, could never tell whose base I was in or how vehicle spawns worked. Warframe was confusing too, it seems all F2P games are shit at explaining anything and have a shitload of unnecessary menus.

I hate this game, but I've also played it a lot. So, 10 helpful tips for new players:
1. The easiest way to live longer on any class is to get 4 medkits, and spam them while running around like you're on fire on the rare occasions that taking damage doesn't instantly kill you
2. The U key is your best friend. You should never run from base to base. Even using a vehicle is often times slower than doing the redeploy shuffle across a continent
3. Don't play vanu, unless you just can't get enough of that cock
4. Stay out of biolabs. The tertiary bases to biolabs are usually good fights. The biolabs themselves are asscheeks and nobody ever has fun in them
5. Get used to Indar, you'll be seeing a lot of it.
6. Press H to enlarge your minimap, turn on centralized HUD in the options. [ and ] zoom the minimap in and out
7. The best cert investment you can make is in your class abilities. Medic with max rank jesus gun and bubble shield basically print certs and is a good place to start
8. All guns are the same. No gun is a straight upgrade over another. All of them can be trial'd in the depot, and all of them can be equipped in VR training
9. Don't ever join command chat, unless you love hearing literal autists bicker on VOIP
10. Uninstall the game to increase your quality of life and boost your fun

Infantry combat is pretty fair, since the stock weapons are great and skill matters more than your new gun.
Air combat is pretty much fucked, since the only people who fly are those who do it for 15 hours a week and have full kitted out aircraft and you have a pea shooter and baby thruster pack.
Tanks and ground vehicles benefit from different stuff, depending on whether you want to go AI or tank hunting.

It's been a long ass time since I played but last time I played I was able to wreck shit without grinding or touching the cash shop and just playing as a combat medic using the Gauss Rifle S with a foregrip, 6x scope, and compensator which all together was pretty cheap. Trick I found was just to always use semi auto instead of running around like an idiot trying to spray bullets everywhere.

Eh, honestly I can't really see people setting up entire structures if that's what they have planned. Biggest issue I ran into with the cash stuff was special snowflake armor customization. The default armor in the game was designed around specific shapes and colors to make each faction recognizable. When you're playing NC, who's armor is designed to be boxy in nature and you see a TR running around with a helmet that looks pretty fucking similar to the NC's style of armor wearing brown and green camo it can be pretty fucking confusing. Likewise if you see an NC teammate running around with a helmet that's smooth and round in the style of the VS wearing similarly neutral colors it's easy to mistake him for an enemy and accidentally gun his poor ass down.

That's kind of the pattern I've always seen in the game though with all factions. One side gets thoroughly recked and spends pretty much hours just cornered at their warp gate while two other factions take a shit ton of ground and try to push each other back.

TR on West 2 never had their shit together, FUCKING EVER. Picture related it was the last time I saw Buzz on west 2 back in the day before he left for West 1 crying abloo bloo. Smedley had asked on global for people to join west 2 for stress testing, west 1 was pretty laggy so most joined it, I went there because all the old ass outfits and groups had just got in the beta. So of course Buzz showed up there to try to capitalize on the situation, not thinking of the massive amounts of NC old players whom had not even earned certs yet. His group attempted to stack fucking sunderers with repair into our warpgate and siege NC directly but got murdered by Zephyr and all of NC firing at each sunder one at a time. Buzz retreated and sat at the fucking Paris tech planet tower for 6 hours with his whole faction before he noticed that a third of the NC force had just taken their territory from behind. Picture related is the last image seen of buzz and crew back when you could storm inside of warpgates.

Protip: Most weapons are shit.
The best guns are the ones which, in order of importance:
- Are as accurate as possible
You can't hit someone beyond 70 meters if the first shot on your COF is literally going sideways or into space.
- Have excellent rate of fire
Fast ROF+headshots is instant death with no (human) reaction time possible, it's just that simple. Your target WILL react starting on the first hit, making subsequent hits harder. Dealing as many hits as possible in a short time mostly avoids this.
- Deal as much damage as possible.
Make enemies who may only have partial health more succeptable to an immediate death on a hit. This is why so many people use the commissioner, because if for any reason you're below 450 health, you'll die in 1HS+1hit instead of 3 hits anywhere.
The TR weapons and the starting VS Orion LMG are a good example of why "ROF+headshots" is a game winner, and why the "I have horrible COF bloom and low ROF" Gauss Saw LMG requires a more skilled operator to manage. (and why NC newbies are utter shitbags at holding the line)

I've made the mistake of basically buying and maxing out the medals ("auraxium'd") for nearly every infantry weapon on the New Conglomerate twice over.
The only weapons worth a damn are:
Cyclone (SMG) - 167 damage on a hipfire gun, meant to be used in close range. Headshots @ min distance means 4 shots to kill. Only SMG in the game worth a shit. (others rely on pure ROF and infiltrator cloak-lag gimmicks)
"S"elect variant Carbine/AR - Normally the -s variant weapons are shit, however NC gets a 2 round burst instead of 3. This is NOT a detriment it normally is, since the 3rd round is the one that misses. Engineers get infnite ammo, so it's best to get the carbine version and underbarrel grenade launcher attachment and spam free mini-grenades all day onto corners.
ROF hipfire carbines - Can be good if you slap the Advanced laser sight on it to reduce COF by 66%
Pump action shotgun, "damage" version - The only infantry gun (outside of the UBSG of the -s variant carbine/ARs) that can legitimately instagib almost any infantry. Don't put slugs on it, that removes the instagib pellets.
High-skill and patience required guns are:
AC-X11 (Carbine) Reaper, Atross (AR) Gauss Saw (LMG) . All of these have perfect first shot accuracy, making them effectively light and more versatile snipers without being a fucking "i lose 100 shield health because my cloak is broken and annoying" infiltrator.
The rest of the guns? Shit. All shit.
Battle rifles. Sniper rifles. Scout rifles. SMGs. -S variant LMGs. "Auraxium medal reward" weapons.
Total fucking garbage.
tl;dr
Heavy Assault with their faction flavored ROF LMG, or the NS-"75% move speed while aiming when everyone else gets 50% move speed" LMG. + 4 Medkits + Decimator + Commissioner. + Adrenaline shield/Nanoweave, or Resist shield/Shield Capacitor.
Battle hardened 4, or Regeneration 3 or 4.
This describes 70%-90% of the infantry population.I wish i was joking.
