I liked it, shit all to do for most of the map though and it felt like every car but Nick's was a shit box, some of them couldn't make it up a hill
I had some fun with it back then, probably wouldn't like it much now. Felt like GTA but with waaay less things to do aside from the missions the game gives you.
I played True Crime NYC which was pretty good, dont know about OPs game tho

bullshit. it wasnt very evolved but it wasnt like that either. I pity you little aimless nigger that never got to live the wonders of going highspeed in the road and shooting a car in the exhaust pipe to see it roll over in flames

Off the top of my head:
I liked the branching storyline
the combat was OK and I liked the mild shootdodging and fistfighting
the soundtrack was a mixed bag and I ended up listening to the same couple of songs over and over
there could have been a lot more variety in random dispatch missions, chasing a truck full of video games came up every other time
the map was huge but very dull and literally just limited to roads and occasional alleyways with everything at right angles, which was true to life but boring as fuck
not enough interesting interior environments, bdsm dungeon aside
Also afaik Sleeping Dogs was originally a True Crime sequel.

I played it when it first came out and had fun with it, the combat was easily better than GTA:VC. It's better when you treat it as an action game and not as a sandbox GTA clone.
The overworld was absolute shit and the only purpose it served was moving from A to B it took like a good hour to drive from one end of the other and it was all copy and pasted.
The most fun I had with it was the snoop dogg mode.

I enjoyed it when it came out, the fitting was cool, but I tried going back to it like 5 years ago and it was truly fucking SHIT. it has aged like CUM. I didn't get very far in the sequel but the graphics were much better and it seemed a bit better quality
