It's not advertising, though. It's an actual conversation, about how our channels are going. I suppose you're right that they should be on /vg/, but any time there's one up, it gets deleted because somebody erroneously thinks it's against the rules.
Amateur GameDev General is apparently okay though. Despite all the linking to things that a person has made, in order to discuss them. Which is what this thread is, except about videos.

See, Twitch is gaming culture. The problem is, this rule and the subsequent way stuff like it is treated comes from way back when people like Dopefish and Vinesauce would just spam their shit all over /v/ in separate threads all the time.
Now that it's all calmed down, now that people tend to stay in one thread (like this one), I think that rule should probably be revisited or, at least, treated like the rest of the 'rules' on /v/ and just fucking ignored.

that or make guides maybe and be really good so that your guides become the top guides for that game and then you could make gameplay off them.
Say you make a guide for a mage in a game.
It gets 50,000 views. Then you could throw annotations on it or something or a playlist and group it together and do like ranked matches or something of that mage class and it could just be gameplay and people would watch it because it gives them more examples of how to play the class in real time after someone has explained all the theory and stuff.

I don't have a gaming channel, but I am filmmaker. I produced, wrote, and directed my first short film 3 years ago that I'm pretty proud of.
It looks really professional and has received some acclaim, which I'm happy about. I'm currently in pre-production with my next short, which I'll be filming in June.
Not that famous, but doing fine. Most of my subscribers are people from /v/ and /vr/.
