The adamantite armor was so good for a non-dungeon set, and a few of the yellow dyes are pretty great. Way better than the Metallic garbage S-E is always trying to push.

Well, at the very least, silver has its use in the creation of alloys and as a coating.
Regardless, you're not wrong about the all-too-expected shift in the aesthetic of the game heading straight into modern Final Fantasy character design territory.
The worst part is that Heavensward gave us new, setting-appropriate stuff with the common equipment being handed out through the expansion, then veered straight off when you hit endgame.
I'm not a big fan of most of the Esoteric gear, and the Lore gear can basically go in the trash. All of the "best" gear always tries too damn hard to broadcast that it's some mythic junk, when it's really just gaudy.
