Is there anyone who doesn't turn this off? like why do devs still add these shitty things

besides console gamers who are forced to have this on
>>
>>335663003
None of them are inherently bad but often the devs pick the worst pp methods for them
I usually turn it all off but there are some games that actually make good use of DoF
>>
>>335663120
Those things are pretty bad, they make the game harder to look, it makes games uglier, and on top of that they also require extra performance.

Chromatic aberration looks so fucking bad, but devs want to force that shit as if having it means your graphics are modern or something. it's brown and bloom all over again

Moderate bloom is fine. It can help to create an atmosphere.
>>
>>335663295
Motion blur is acceptable during things such as explosions but having it on all the time is cancer
>>
DoF is preferable to all those shitty distant textures looking sharp.

if any game ever benefited from CA it's Alien Isolation, a game designed specifically to emulate the look of a certain late 70's film

in fast phased games motion blur gives me a headache its so cancerous

but I wasn't playing a camera in Isolation, I was playing as some bitch. Thankfully the option to turn that garbage off was available

DoF and bloom can be good sometimes, they're shit most of the time though since dev really love taking those stuff way too far.
and let's not forget about
>film grain
>cinematic border
>shaky shaky cameraey
>>
Really wish I could disable film grain in rainbow 6 siege

YOU ARENT PLAYING AS A CAMERAMAN. YOURE PLAYING AS THE CHARACTER.
>>
What does chromatic aberration do anyway?
>>
>>335664361
Borders of certain objects have a messed up color spectrum. It's a flaw of old cameras that devs are bent on recreating for some reason.
>>

Why the fuck does anyone thinks this looks good? It gives me a headache looking at a still image, to say nothing of a moving game.
>>
>>335664127
Get the fuck out.
>>
>>335664685
I think developers use it to hide shitty graphics, much like they did with bloom/blur in the past
>>
>>335664685
I've seen it done as a replacement for screen shake with the purpose to briefly obscure the player's view.

I do
I like it
It looked great in Alien: Isolation & Bloodborne
I enjoyed the effect
>>
>>335664962
You are also using MSAAx16 and MFSAA right?
>>
>>335665125
>MSAA at that resolution
Way to waste resources on nothing. SMAA is enough by then.
>>
>>335664127
DoF works fine in Warframe. Aside from the setting affecting haze/transparency effects because devs don't know how to dev, actual DoF only affects scoped view.
>>
>>335665725
what are you, poor?
