The morph powers make the game significantly easier without it being made more challenging in response.
Sure, you can just not use the morphs except where absolutely required, but that's no fun.
It's my favorite one aside from the first game. Getting Soichi Terada back to do the music did it a whole lot of good. Plus that Ape Escape/MGS crossover minigame was great.
