What games have good gore? Preferably with a bit of TECHNOLOGY behind it. Max Payne 3 has some of the best gore tech, like bullet holes appearing on the bodies and a great ragdoll system.

God of War 3 has some pretty decent gore I guess. I'm not really a fan of it so it was a bit much for me but when you gut a centaur for example you have his innards falling out and shit like that.

Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 has a very interesting gore system:
http://www.valvesoftware.com/publications/2010/gdc2010_vlachos_l4d2wounds.pdf (very interesting to read)
Also, SOF 2 has the GHOUL 2.0 tech:

>game uses the rope system in Source to make it look like gibs are trailing blood and enemies' intestines are coming out during some animations

L4D 1&2 were both pretty inventive with the preexisting systems within Source engine.

Imagine when games use voxels so models have interiors, gore would be so advanced.
>>
>>335643142
and framerate would be so low.

Besides, no game has really surpassed Soldier of Fortune 2 in that line, and its an old ass game

Killing Floor 2 has the best gore I've seen in a long time.

>voxels
By the time we have the processing power to make entire scenes full of Voxels, you could've achieved double the fidelity in some sort of polygon technology. Never going to happen in games. Nevermind how fucking difficult animation, physics and basically any other game system is to implement alongside Voxel graphics. We might get "models with interiors", but that doesn't inherently require Voxels as even most Voxel models made for the purpose of videogames are completely hollow.

The problem with polygons is 1. they have diminishing returns, and 2. they're flat. Textures are stupid as fuck, they're just a facade. The future will have real depth to the models.

Best kind is when artillery is coming down and it dismembers your teammates next to you or when your tank takes a hit and your driver explodes into tomato soup all over your tank.

But it's true. Did you even read the second point? Don't be in denial.

she actually did 1 damage, but siren resist + zerk innate resist makes sirens do fuck all damage even on HoE
and i killed the husk by blowing up his backpack which blew up the siren before she could scream again

I did, I know where this is going. You're going to go full dunning kruger and feed me the same regurgitated crap parroted by people outside of the industry about increasing polycounts producing diminishing returns based on that one bullshit image about subdividing and act like Voxels are the NUMBER ONE ONLY WAY POSSIBLE - oh fuck, I knew it, there it is >>335644609 literally as I'm typing - anyway, you're going to act like the only way you could POSSIBLY achieve 3D surface variation is through Voxels even though Voxel tech is just calculating a billion points in 3D space, which is something that we already do to make polygons, meaning there's no fucking point to using JUST the point data when you'd just be producing a shittier version of an increased polycount that straight up treats the point data as pixels instead of using them to calculate polygons. You'd be replacing the need for high polycount to create detail with the need for high point density, and lower point density would create MUCH WORSE results while being exponentially harder to process and also throwing all the technology that has gone into making polygon rendering realistic out the window.

You STILL haven't answered my second point. Also literally every claim in this essay is baseless and quite frankly, incorrect.
>>
>>335645793
Are you a developer
>>
>>335645793
Voxels are literally atoms. You cannot get more precise than that.
>>
>>335647523
Alright, for your second point:
You can't claim to know the future and even if your prophecy turns out to be true, Voxels have been known to be a dead-end garbage technology for gaming for close to a decade and have an 0.001% chance of being the model format that produces it since there's nothing they're capable of that a system utilizing polygons isn't. Not only that, but switching to them would set us back a literal two decades of 3D tech, they complicate countless functions like lighting, physics and animation to the point where they're unfeasible, and any Voxel system we could process on current tech would have less than half the image quality of a polygonal scene to be capable of rendering at an acceptable framerate for a game. But given your "point" straight up claims knowing the future I'm going to return to my initial refutation: You're retarded.
