No, that's what I think to and I'm pretty intimate with the ways of KoF. Being in Max Mode reduces the number of bars you need to trigger a Climax DM because you already sacrificed one to go Max. It was the same in XIII.

Tendo's DM was just a deadly rave joystick motions instead of button presses, right? Because I can remember being surprised at how easy it was to do in KOF XI.
I thought his LDM turned him into a more "Traditonal" fighting game character and took away a lot of his unique moves in exchange for more power, slightly better defense and buffs to the specials that were left.

The problem with the Deadly Rave is the button presses aren't necessarily in time with the hits, they have to preclude them.
With a combo you can time your inputs based on each hit happening but with the DR you're buffering the hits in a specific rhythm.
It's similar to a 10-string in Tekken.

KoF13 had a retardedly huge move buffer, one of the biggest around. If you held the button down you could do it like a second early and it would still work.
This is why the reverse DP option select works. You can input a backwards DP and hold the button on a wakeup or in blockstun and then if they try to cross you up a DP will automatically come out. Makes a lot of mixups in that game useless and is extremely easy to do.

XIII has the largest input buffers in the entire series to the point where it creates problems. The game stores inputs for 60 frames and will auto buffer specials for 5 frames if you hold the attack button. If you feel like you don't have enough time to do inputs the fault is entirely your own, chances are you are doing the wrong input.

When your Attacks successfully hit, or you Take Damage and Block strikes, you build "Meter". When the meter gauge fills up, it creates a "Bar" that can be stored until you lose the entire match (You team of 3 gets KO'ed).
Meter used to do a bunch of stuff in older games, but in KOF XIV it seems to be used for "Max Mode" (2 "Bars") or for Persona 4:Arena-style "Auto-Combos" (1 "Bar" for a unique meh-to-crap damage mini-super).

Before XIII, KoF always told its story through Arcade Mode Team Endings and related guides/CD Drama released at the time.
In XIII an actual Story Mode was made, the Arcade Mode was still available for individual Team Endings.
In XIV it seems only a Story Mode is available, meaning Arcade Mode vanished with no more Individual Endings for Teams, or both fused, or there is an Arcade Mode that we just didn't see yet being featured in any video.

The best way to handle "story" in a fighting game is to do it is to have each character get their own story that is told as they fight 10 or so opponents. I expect that it what they'll do.the only thing "wrong" with SFV's story mode was that it was too short/easy. To be honest, Iori's characterisation is all over the place. In early KoF he was pretty much a straight villain, then in 97 he was part of the heroes and even (at the time) was thought to have sacrificed himself along with Kyo to kill Orochi.
Modern Iori still keeps the antihero thing going but he goes between being fairly villainous in how he interacts with people and at other times is written like one of these antiheroes with hidden heart of gold type characters.

I've played Tokido at a few tournaments and he openly prefers KoF to Street Fighter, was quite annoyed that SF players were hassling him to play casuals all the time.

In old KoF it wasn't really that no characters could do that, but only that the top tiers could. And that was almost always the case. Iori could rekka from lights almost universally, but Kyo couldn't as an example. It evens the playing field in a way.
What ISN'T okay is how lights could easily lead into 80% odd with HD mode in 13, hopefully we're done with that shit.

And crouching lows directly into his rekkas had a middleman of df D in XI, in 03 only upkicks could be linked from crouching lows but not the D version making juggles impossible, XIII was the only game that had them directly on EX Kyo, it seems we're getting the full package with added bonus in this one
