This kind of thing is actually pretty normal and happens to Japanese games all the time. It saves them time and money if they don't change every little thing for each market.

I think it's fucking shit they censored stuff in this game, and as much as I wanted it, I'm not going to pick it up. And yes, the changes will affect how some bits of the story play out, since it wont make as much sense.
But I wish people would drop this idea that the entire game is some sort of harsh critique of the idol industry. It's not. They have fun doing their shit, they like what they do, and they want to continue doing it. The obstacles they face are things they try to overcome, such as overzelaous fans taking pictures, shyness about modeling in swimsuits, etc.

Censorship deters content creators from creating the content they really want to and waters down their creations to something that they didn't intend. Do you not think its extremely presumptuous of you to think one knows better than the original content creator as to what their work should be like? Criticism is welcome, and can improve later works, but changing pre-existing works to be your own vision of what is okay and not okay instead of the creators is wrong and a deterrence to content creators everywhere.
Furthermore, censorship sets a precedent for what others can follow. Companies can look at something censored and say "Well they got away with censoring this, so I guess we can do this" and so on. One shouldn't be setting this precedent. Its harmful to the industry, harmful to creativity, harmful to content creators, and waters down things for consumers. Consumers should be allowed to decide for themselves what is right and wrong and what fits their sensibilities simply based on what they buy and do not buy. If one doesn't like something, they should simply not participate in it. If they do, then go for it.
If one has a problem with content, one should criticize, not censor, a work's messages. The beauty of these sorts of works is that they make you feel something, so why would you water that down? If you are disgusted by a work, that's beautiful in itself. And besides, companies can always add options to games to switch between censored and uncensored content for those who prefer it.
Censorship is abhorrent and wrong, and one shouldn't stand for even the tiniest bit of it.
Furthermore these sorts of changes were unnecessary to begin with. There's no good reason for this to exist in the first place. That is why I care.

Pandora's Tower is not XSeed's game. It is Nintendo's game. XSeed is simply the publisher and translator. They own the rights to release it in the West. They have control over it here. They are the publisher.
