I'm fucking excited for this game.
I understand there is already a ridiculous amount of controversy surrounding it because of any content that is altered, but I guess I'm a part of the 2% who feels happy that we are:
For one, getting the game at ALL.
And two - Japanese audio. Thank. Fucking. God. This game would have been a laugh in English, especially considering its emphasis on idol singing/jpop. And it's hard to believe that we have this option on a Nintendo console of all things. Just look at Arc Rise Fantasia on the Wii.
I guess all I'm saying is I'm legitimately pumped for the game. I got my Limited Edition pre ordered and can't wait to get my hands on it. c:

But that's why I wanted it in English. The game itself is already shit so a cringy dub would have done nothing short of improving it into a MST3K-tier experience.

This game is canon for Fire Emblem storyline because protag is Marth reincarnation like it reveals at the endgame (recovering all its memories) and the Dragon from Shadow Dragon is Final boss

I was probably the most excited for this game out of anybody I've seen on this board, but I was the guy who discovered the gravure dungeon was butchered and it killed my hype, and I still feel bad because I ruined any discussion by finding it, too. I'm still buying it, waiting for the SE to go up on Amazon, but it's hard to stay excited when I know they're changing so much. That dungeon accounts for a good chunk of the story, too. I don't feel so good about this anymore.

I didn't really care to play the game for swimsuits and lewd outfits, but this part seems more important to the story; I'm worried that the subs will be ruined or we'll have a lot of content missing. If we're missing more than just swimsuits (which is already bad enough), I'll be pretty disheartened. As things are now though, I'll likely get it day 1 since it looks fun and I enjoy the idol songs/performances and Fire Emblem characters.

See, that's not the issue. The character wants to be an idol. Her issue is that she feels embarrassed about posing in front of cameras in a bikini, as idols often do. And so chaning it to be "She's embarrassed about wearing clothes" doesn't make any sense. I loved Strange Journey; it had great music and I liked having soldiers as characters instead of teens. I hadn't played a dungeon crawler like it before, so the gameplay was an interesting change of pace. It felt pretty tedious to play later on though, so I don't know if I would have finished if I didn't like the music so much.

I really want to play the game, but I refuse to condone or reward Nintendo for their complete ineptitude when it comes to all the unnecessary censorship they have been forcing on everyone. Maybe some day down the line I will buy it used, but I will not be giving Nintendo any money.

You make an excellent point. Nintendo could just as easily make their systems region-free, and if people don't like the localization they get, they can import. I would love to be able to do that without modding, but no, Nintendo just has to put these "Security Measures" in place.
I mean look at DoAX3. Sure, it's really stupid that they caved under pressure and didn't release the game to the west, but at least Sony's systems are region free, so those who really want the game can import.
Nintendo is just stuck in the past, and I don't see them changing any time soon. Third-party support is already lacking (to put it lightly), so maybe if we voice our opinions to those third parties that have their games changed simply because they are on a Nintendo system, maybe they'll get the hint that it would probably be better to release on Playstation/Xbox/PC instead.

It's seems like an ok game from what I've seen. Nothing spectacular, though. It's definitely not a system seller (that honor goes to Smash Bros, Splatoon, or Bayonetta 2). At this point, anybody who was planning on getting a Wii U probably already has, and those who haven't won't bother since the console's lifespan is coming to an end. Unlike XCX, which I was too excited about to avoid, I never really had plans to play #FE after it stopped being SMT x FE.
I want to preface this with I already have it pre-ordered so I'm gonna get it regardless becuase i have disposable income.
But fuck. I was so excited when I heard about this premise. SMTxFire emblem? Sign me the fuck up. And I was even on board when I saw that original trailer. The song was kinda catchy and the idea of using FE heroes as like jojo stands or Personas sounded so fucking cool. But it's just so cringy now and I'm losing a lot of steam on it. I mean I can hope that the gameplay is decent at least. Right?

I think it's fucking shit they censored stuff in this game, and as much as I wanted it, I'm not going to pick it up. And yes, the changes will affect how some bits of the story play out, since it wont make as much sense.
But I wish people would drop this idea that the entire game is some sort of harsh critique of the idol industry. It's not. They have fun doing their shit, they like what they do, and they want to continue doing it. The obstacles they face are things they try to overcome, such as overzelaous fans taking pictures, shyness about modeling in swimsuits, etc.
It honestly seems like people are reading way more into it than it is, people who don't like idols for some reason, and saying that the game is anti-idol, gravure or otherwise. It's none of those things, and I don't understand why some people are so salty about an entertainment industry in another country that they have to twist the games plot to suit them.
