Any older (24+) players here?
How do you balance vidya with adult life?
Do you even enjoy games anymore?
>>
>>335451893
>24 is considered "old" on /v/

FFS. You guys are probably the second youngest board after /b/. It's fucking pathetic.

Yeah right.

Normal people move out from their parents at 18 and are well established at 24
Not everyone is a neet manchild

what economy do you even live in? dubai?

I'm 28 and I play semi-pro cs:go.

It's the only game I have time for to maintain my skills. I don't really enjoy it anymore so I'll probably go full normie soon

27. I mainly play older games on my Saturn, PS2, DC, DS and PC primarily. I decided not to participate in Gen 8 because of how shitty things are becoming. Gen 7 and prior games are still great so I don't mind at all.

I work a lot so I tend to play after work in the night a few times a week. Recently beat Pokemon Black 2 which was fun.

>Normal people move out from their parents at 18
Not in this day an age.

I was the only person i know from High School to move out and live on my own (without room mates or friends) at 18, and that's only because I lucked the fuck out an got a job at a lumber yard when I was 17.

Even so I'm probably going to move back into my parent's place because even though I can afford to live on my own, I simply can't save up money to actually buy a house or a new car or any of that shit with how high rent is in my area.

>>335452420
Could be worse. You could be like quite a few ppl I know that made god life choices, went to college for 4-6 years, then proceeded to do nothing because there's no work in their fields, and are now approaching 30 y/o and still have no possible way to pay of student and credit card debts that they'll probably have until they're passed 40.

As long as you're not sitting on a mountain of debt, you're golden.
>>
27 in 2 months.

I don't know, man. I wish I could just not worry about shit and go to sleep one day and wake up the next not having to worry about my rent, shit is brutal. Really wish I could go like 2 days without being super worried. This takes away all my energy to play any game whatsoever. Wife keeps bothering me when I play for long stretches as well so that also kills the fun.

Waiting on overwatch right now. if that fails, I don't know what I'll play. DaS3 was fun but burned out very fast.
>>
>>335452264
I was a foster kid and lived with a friend's family until mid-19 when I moved out and live on my own.

You can't move out at 18 when you're a defeatist bitch. You can when you're an adult.

The question is really, how are 11 of your daylight/night hours being wasted on vidya
>>
>>335452420dude, I'm exactly the same. Although I already moved out at 18, due to poor choices I had to move back with my parents once. And now I had to move back a second time, since me and my GF had to give up our home to study in Japan for half a year.

Also, I mostly play single player-games during the weekends and play some multiplayer with friends online during weekday evenings.

Balancing really isn't all that hard.

Wii U, PS4 and PC.

I am 25. I am a student and I work part time. I love vidya. My most beloved hobbies are playing games and reading books.

Let me tell you how my day goes by... I wake up at 10 o clock, I eat and so on and start to learn for university at latest by starting at 12 o clock. So I usually sit at my desk until 9 or 10 o clock, sometimes even longer.

After that, I play like an hour or two vidya and then I read a book, Also for an hour or two.

Thursdays, I have to go to university from 9:45 in the morning until 8:30 at night.
Two days in the week, I am going to work. When I have semester break, I work almost every day.

Sorry for my bad english. I am from germany. Oh and there are very rare days, when I play all day. Usually after an exam.

I enjoy gaming a lot. Especially games like Ro2, insurgency and CSS. At the moment I play dark souls. It´s very good but man it annoys the fuck out of me.

I am at the dukes archive and I got cursed.. wth
>>

I rarely play newer games, though there are some that I like very much. I bought Ori and the blind forest last year and loved it.
Half of my top 10 favorites are SNES games, others something like Morrowind and HoMM3

I'm 32 and my lifestyle has never really changed. I work 9-5 Monday thru Friday, come home, cook myself some food, then play vidya or watch anime tell midnight, pass out, go to work, and proceed to repeat. I have a bretty good job as well, just bought me a corvette a few months ago. Shit is fast yo.

I am currently looking forward to Kingdom Come, Total War Warhammer, and Mountain Blade 2.

28, play on my Vita after work for an hour or two and PS4/PC on my days off. Waiting for EO5 and SMT Apocalypse before I bother with my 3DS again.
I still enjoy vidya, just wish I had more time.
>>
This thread makes me want to find a group for older people who want to play together. Nothing makes me feel like I'm wasting my life more than playing CSGO or any moba and realize everyone's acting like a child (such as hacking), because they are children.

I used to do well in pvp in WoW and I can't stand playing with any of the kids anymore, had a blast playing with someone at his 30s the other day even though we did very fucking poorly and tanked my rating from 2.4 to 2.1. I don't mind losing or anything as long as people act like people and make the game interesting for everyone. I'm brazilian so communities are always worse for me than it is for you

in israel and other countries conscription is mandatory, so basically 3 years of our lifes are taken away. add to that the shitty state our country is in and you get a late bloomer generation
>>
>>335452732

I feel like this situation is becoming the norm these days in western countries. More and more of my friends have had to move back home lately or are lucky enough to move out with their partners. Kind of sucks how it's such a taboo - especially if you're like me and pay rent, cook your own meals etc

To be fair, I really have no desire to owning a house or a nice car. I'm totally satisfied with a comfy little unit with my old shitty car. I just wanna lift, play vidya and enjoy my career. s-SOON.

23 here. Video games do nothing for me and I've been just reading manga and watching film lately. I'm actually in a pretty good state mentally, having suffered anxiety and my mother and grandmother being in the hospital I'm now sated with who I am - I take solace knowing so many of you work your jobs, finger your phones and drag yourself out of bed in the morning for the almighty dollar and all I do is sit here..contemplating "hmm, what will I do next?"

Sure I'll be homeless soon, but my heart is in the right place.

Talk about delusion. You fags don't even enjoy your waking life but keep doing it, I'm sated in my delusion that so long as I keep my mind healthy then nothing bad will ever happen.

30 here. My adult life is pretty simple. I bartend, make fairly shitty money but the cost of living here is cheap as fuck so it's not hard to pay bills. I work 40 hours a week, spend all my remaining time hanging with friends or playing videogames.

I Practice dmc4 on occasion, and similarly I try to find games that allow the same type of playstyle, which I then write about on my shitty website if I like it enough, with the occasional youtube vid demonstrating shit. This takes up a lot of time and normally I would also play guitar and piano on the side, which I havent done in quite some months now.

I Want to earn more $$ for less hours. That would help. I also need to spend less time shitposting on /v/.

Also want to get a tablet for playing dmc4 on the train so I can get my practice in there but I'm not sure if the specs are capable of a stable 60fps.

Also I dont have a gf, thank god, because those take up time I would rather invest in myself.

25, full-time job. It pays pretty well, and I'm able to give away shifts and take early outs if I like, so I tend to work 30 hour weeks typically. Plenty of time for vidya; finishing up DaS3 and then it's back to where I left off in P3.
>>
30.
Play vidya for several hours on my one day off.
Play Dissidia at the arcade for a couple hours total per week.

Basically I focus on one console vidya and one arcade vidya.

>Do you even enjoy games anymore?
Well, admittedly most games is just way to pass time, but from time to time I hit something great that makes me cut real-life activities just so I can play more.
Only thing that worries me is my backlog, which grew unexpectedly large even since I bought PC and installed steam. But it's hardly something complain, since this way I ended up playing oldies like System Shock, Blood or Doom, and even genres I would normally not play like RTS or 4X.

I moved back to my parents at age of 27. Turned out my new workplace is just 2km from my hometown, so my parents wanted me to move back, probably because my sister, who was supposed to take over family house, moved with her husband to other side of country.

any advice for a 29yr old trying to quit MMOs?

All I do is come home from work and log in MMOs sometimes just idle and not actually playing because of habit.

I play some single-player games no and then but I end up feeling lonely after just 1-2hrs of playing.
>>
>>335457030

Do you socialize while idling or literally just idle in the game?

If the former my advice is to never stop, I play single player shit all the time, I miss my guild and e-friends
>>
>>335451893

34 here.

Most I get to do these days is play Dragon Quest on the iOS on my commute to and from work. Occasionally if the living room is free I'll play some old shooter on the projector but time and energy is scarce these days, especially moreso due to games being fucking shit.
>>
>>335457030

Holy fuck dude if you feel lonely while you're not playing MMOs you should try going outside and taking a walk because your life is in shambles

What job do you have?
>>
>30 years old
>married with two kids (2 and 5)

>play maybe twice a week for a couple of hours

When I'm busy I really yearn for games, but when I sit down to play I find I can't find anything that really absorbs me, and I quickly lose interest. Also I don't want the kids to see me vegging in front of the computer.

My wife doesn't mind me playing but she's not enthusiastic about it either (I've yet to meet a woman who keen on their other half playing games).

Nevertheless I am looking forward to Mount & Blade 2.
>>
>>335457140

The former, paying a sub fee just to idle and socialize sounds a bit sad though.>>335457230

Easy to feel lonely when you have no place to talk about vidya/nerd shit and other interests that you wouldn't talk about in RL.
>>
>>335457807

Fuck that mang, unless you are ready to throw yourself out there amongst normalfags and have shallow conversations while drinking alcohol every day, just chill with your online mates.
Unless you have 0 IRL friends, if you have a few just hang with them sometimes.

Alternatively ask around if your clan/guild is playing something else and do it with them.

This comes from a 27yo fag who quit his last mmo in 2008 and has been trying to get hooked on ANY of them again and it never ever happened.

The games are not good enough to play for themselves so I can't get invested enough to stay. Single player is good but lonely when you cant discuss it with anyone else but /v/ who can't discuss anything at all.
>>
>>335452264
You should be able afford a studio apartment and support just yourself on a part time job. Or at least a two roomer with a friend.

You DO have friends, don't you?
>>
>>335458185

Not everyone lives in your country and town anon.

okay...
>>
>>335458185

>>
>>335451893
26 here. I'm a grad student and if I want to get good grades I don't really have time for vidya. I usually don't feel like playing (or doing) anything at all anyway. Sometimes though I get a streak of vidya craving and I play for a couple of days straight. Gotta watch out that doesn't interfere with studying (which I hardly do, but near the exams I go all out and study all day).
Funny thing is I usually don't feel like playing vidya, but whenever I have an exam or deadline coming up I am drawn to vidya immensely.

>>335459060

That game was my last venture into trying to socialize and talk vidya with normalfags.

I played through it just so when asked about it I wouldn't just shit on it like /v/ did.
Apparently it was all perfectly justified, instead of discussing it with them on fair grounds I just decided to never talk about it again, I gave up on talking with the dude who liked it - and he sat next to me at work for over a year.

I'm 30. I only play on weekends.
After a dissapointing experience with the Wii U, I bought a PS4 with Bloodborne. The latter reminded me what I loved about video games years ago, so s still room for gaming in my life
>>
>>335451893
I spend more time doing bullshit related to games then I spend playing them. Because I can do this kind of bullshit while at work, but I can't very well play video games.

29. Wife. Kid. Full time employed (and then some).

I basically cannot play video games between 08:00 and 20:00 because we have a baby and it needs full time monitoring and if I am not working then I am expected to be monitoring so wife can have a break. Then after baby sleeps it's usually time to watch television shows that have recorded over the week if I'm home before 22:00. Sometimes on a regular day there's a period between about 23:00-00:00 that I can play video games, then sleep. Otherwise I just go straight to bed. If I am working nights and/or on call, I can sometimes get away with playing some games when I get home... right now I am playing KOTOR again. I mostly just play old games that remind me of happy simple times. I also get to sleep in when on nights so I get a brief baby reprieve.

I'm told it does get better... I guess we'll see. There are definitely days I wish I could go back to raiding 6 nights a week and playing whatever video games I want (mostly raiding though). University afforded me that luxury because I could get away without attending classes or studying... that doesn't work in the real world though! You kind of have to show up.

I'm 35 and married. We have a rule about personal time. We each get a couple hours a day of time to ourselves free of any bitching of interruption from the other. So, I get to play some video games and she gets to watch stupid ass reality shows. Then, we are both happier, less stressed, and a whole lot less likely to get pissed off at each other. It really is simple. Make time for the things you enjoy or your whole life will be joyless.

i only enjoyed a few games the last years.
one of them was witcher 3.
most games just suck and the older you get the less hype you feel because you know that games never are like they get advertised.
i don't work so i have much time for playing but it is just boring, games still suck.
maybe in 10-20 years gaming will improve.
ai still sucks and gameplay is always the same, there is nearly nothing new.

I feel I should also mention that though the hours can be long my job is not very strenuous except on a very bad day. If it is a bad day then I get a baby exemption, but most of the time I'd rather just look after the baby so that I can bank the positive parenting points to spend when I have a bad day. I just embarked on 3 days off in a row so I can bank a lot of points during this time to spend when I go back to work.

Fuck yeah, just this month iw as enjoying the hell of Battleborn beta, SF5 with some friends(because honestly, thak game fucking sucks even if you try playing online), Sleeping Dogs and ,surprisingly, Persona 4: Golden.

193 IQ here, while I'm about as old as much of you I consider myself more mature than most people

There's nothing to balance when you and your bf are both NEETs :^)

I don't really find most games fun anymore besides bullet hells, competitive shit, and souls games (although I think 3 killed that for me, extremely shallow compared to BB and DS1)

Personally I think the gaming industry is too saturated to be interesting anymore. Occasionally you'll get a niche gem but 99% of it is uninspired garbage made and loved by literal autists, college/high school dropouts, and degenerates and offer nothing thought provoking.

The only reason I still play is because I want to attempt the esports meme :^)

Do you know Japanese? I've been living here for a year so far and I'm loving it.

It probably is a case of expectations though, I didn't expect it to be some magical place where anime is real (that said seeing the school uniforms and visiting onsen etc does make it feel a bit real, but that'll be because those aspects of anime are based on real life here anyway).

25+ here

full-time high salary job, 9~5 work weeks
300+ hours logged on Xenoblade X

It's really about your prioritization. That's not to say you shouldn't take breaks. But if you the the type of person who's always out on weekends, it will be difficult.
>>

I have job but no social life so there's plenty of time for videogames. But I don't make long sessions anymore and think that vidya takes too much of already sparse free time
>>
>turning 27 in a few months

Moved-in with fiancée and am living with her in her parent's basement. It's not ideal but we're trying to save cash for our own house.

Vidya time plummeted hard when I moved there. 2 weeks ago, we bought a dog and now I have even less time for vidya. I work for VIA Rail and am on the road a lot, but it also means I have the weirdest days off.

Some weeks, I can cover myself in Cheetos and not wear pants until someone gets home. Some weeks, I have to fantasize until the next time I can turn my PC or a console on.

Shit really sucks, sometimes.

I don't care to even play anymore at 28, i'd rather be working or playing with my car. I can't even find any casual or good story driven games that I can play for more than 15 minutes.

It's really frustrating but freeing at the same time.

Yes
>>
>>335470467
i mean why would you get a dog when you dont even have your own place yet?
>>
>>335470361
It was a decision made by her and her familia. I mean, I love dogs too but the responsibility falls on me too much strictly because my hours are whack.

Believe me, I felt buyers remorse like you wouldn't believe.

Today, I came the closest I've been to killing Nameless King but the new dog started to bully the older, full-of-anxiety dog. I had to put the controller down and just die, both in-game and mentally.

I just wanna play video game...

Friendly reminder that moving out young is something that's only happened for about 20 years in all of human history

This has little to do with the person and everything to do with the employment and housing markets where they liv

Wasn't solely my choice. I'm adapting. It's good practice for when we have kids as I'm seeing what it's like to have zero time for hobbies.

Heed my warning, buckeroos; you can't have a normal life and abnormal hobbies. No matter what, you have to sacrifice one and you'll always be unhappy.

By obsessively playing until whatever other responsibilities I have become absolutely necessary or overdue. My college grades are pretty much A with a negative modifier of how many hours I wanted to play everyday.

I'm taking college classes and getting financial aid on the side from that, while working a part time day job as a cashier at a supermarket. I live with a room mate in a two-bedroom apartment and we're both gamers with other gamer friends in real life, so we host LAN parties on the weekends sometimes and also do table-top RPG stuff.

Honestly, I'm your stereotypical /tg/ neckbeard (although, I do shave, and I'm not overweight)

Please explain how anyone can browse this shitty imageboard for more than a couple of years and not get terribly bored of it.
I've barely been around for 4 years and the sheer repetitiveness and banality of it all has reduced my browsing habits to basically 40 minutes of mild lurking per day. Even when I do come here, all I find is retards who are so obviously underage.
There is no value here. It's not informative. Meme-spouting teenagers make it painfully unfunny. With full anonymity, any sense of comradeship or community you might get here is just an illusion. It's a terrible, terrible waste of time that only someone who's experiencing for the first time in his life might find entertaining.

I mean, just what kind of drooling retard finds something as dumb as the word "JUST" written with spaces between letters funny? How fucking mentally deficient must he be to continue to find it funny month after month, year after year? What's the fucking point of all that? We used to make fun of 9gag and Reddit for being stupid cunts who keep unfunny shit alive for years purely because it's le meme, but apparently nowadays you can do just the same on 4chan and that's what passes for content here.
I simply refuse to believe anyone over the age of 25 still uses this site.
>>
>>335472701
There's always something "new" to read. It's like mindlessly scrolling through a Facebook feed for me, except I prefer it since it's not all reposts of memes reposted by another page who reposted it (I said it's not ALL) and I have the option of a few boards to do so on, mostly here, occasionally /co/, and /gd/ and /toy/ now and then.

27. I have an engineering job I work 8am-5pm M-F. I live with my gf who is a singer/actress so I usually see her in the morning but only for an hour in the afternoon. I like to game 6-10pm on weekdays, and usually all day on the weekends if I'm busy or working out.

When she doesn't have a show or a gig she hangs out with me. Some days she wants me to not game so we can spend time together, but she knows I'm great at it, I'm playing with family or friends online, and I just made a twitch channel for fun.

She entered the relationship knowing I like to game and it's futile to try to change me. I've played video games since I was 3 or 4, and it's just where I thrive. I work hard, I work out, and I game. It's just the best hobby there is.

Just turned 29 on Friday, and toss me in as one more "life just never got started" fellow. Still live at home, never had a relationship, work nights, and don't really interact with anyone anymore, which is generally fine by me. I usually wake as regular people are packing it in, and go to bed as people eat lunch. I'm generally too exhausted after work to really focus on playing games. I attempt to on my nights off, but generally, I just forget or am pre-occupied with something else. I'd love to at least move out, but rent in even the stabbier parts of town are beyond my income range, and I lack the career skills (not to mention networking ability) to pursue employment in a location that would allow me to move.
>>
It's surprising difficult, and I have had a much harder time to enjoy games. Pic related is the last game I've completed 100% and had fun with. Partly because pretty alright and another part because I just had my gallbladder removed and couldn't get out of bed for a few days.

I recently got a 9 tp 5 (well 5:30 due to lunch) job, and I thought I'd have so much time after work to play vidya. However, after fighting with traffic both to and from work, doing house work, cooking, and trying to handle other things...It's normally like 10:30 or 11 at night before I can sit down to attempt to play a game. By then, I'm so tired that I normally end up just browsing here while laying in bed.

The only thing I play regularly is FFXIV because I'll do a a roulette or 2 and call it a night. Here recently I've had trouble even being able to do that! So this normally leads to me spending 1 whole day off trying to catch up on the gear grind that I've missed out on instead of playing other vidya.

VERY little time for vidya, Divinity Original Sin is taking me a month and a half to complete. I'm sure i'd have more time though if I left /v/ but it's become a habit after 9 years.

It really depends on a few factors.

If you're absolutely miserable where you're at right now and can find a place within your current budget, I'd say it's worth it. I left home when I was 20 after having a really bad fall out with my family and was super depressed just being home. I was completely worth struggling and living off a tight budge to be free of their bullshit. It also helped that shortly after moving out, I found some friends and we decided to move in together. Rent is far more manageable with roommates.

Yet, if you're happy where you're at, then might as well take advantage of a free place to live. I really hate that so much of my money went to nothing since there's no investment in paying for an apartment but hey, I would have been in a much worse state if I hadn't left when I did.

Though I'm discovering that it's easier to get a house than I thought. Hopefully I'll be ready to buy one in another year or so.
>>
>>335452195
>Normal people move out at 18
Dumbasses and rich people leave that young. If you had issues with your family that's on you but I don't leave because I live my parents and I rather help them pay their mortgage instead of some fat Pakistani.
>>

It's hard. I am 26 and have a gf and a kid now.

She isn't a gamer at all but has never hassled me about playing, she just teases that one day our kids is going to learn from me and my gaming ways.

That said I play a lot less than I used to. I generally go through phases. Don't really play anything for a while then something I have been looking forward to like ds3 comes out and its pretty much all my free time and I nolife it.

I am lucky that even though she doesn't play games at all, she gets its my hobby and she has her own hobbies I leave her to.

Honestly, I'm happy. I played an unhealthy amount in my youth

Recently I have started to lose interest in playing games, not that long after getting into a good job. The free time I had for games is replaced by mindless browsing or watching videos.

I don't like this.

I just catch up on older games these days. I've been playing PS2 games I missed out on back in the day, like Ace Combat and the Shin Megami Tensei games, and it's nonsensical to me how people pay full price for games, when I can get great older games for much less.

I work as a mobile game programmer and live in a 1 bedroom apartment on my own. No idea how you guys get burned out of games. Drinks and board games on friday nights with the fellows, chores and errands on saturday, hang out with my boyfriend on sunday. Vidya every day for a few hours at night.
>>
Turning 28 next week.

I have an easy job and live with my parents. I have a lot of free time and no responsibilities aside from making sure I pay things on time. I have plenty of time to play games.

I still enjoy playing games though I don't play near as much as I used to.

Also 24 isn't old. Not even close.

I'd guess that there are very few if any old people on this site. By old I mean 65 and up.

I'm 25.

Currently working full time and taking evening classes twice a week to get my MBA.

MBA program is honestly pretty easy so far, but the GF takes up a lot of my gaming time. I don't mind it, its just hard to break the mindset of patiently finishing a game piece by piece instead of binging through it like I used to.

Playing Dark Souls 3 right now, only just beat the abyss watchers. Was a pretty awesome fight. I play Destiny or League on Tuesdays with my friends from college, so we keep in touch that way, and that's fun. Still, the backlog just keeps growing.
>>
>>335479578
Also my parents are rich and paid for my schooling so I have no debt, if that's worth mentioning.
>>
29 here. I grew up on NES and consoles.
Around 18 or 19 I stopped buying new vidya and started spending most of that money on music gear. Last new console I bought was a PS2.
Still play vidya but it's 99% emulator and PC/gog downloads now. Still enjoy them but it's getting harder for me to disassociate and immerse myself in them. Really want one of the new 3DS desu
>>
29, $10/hr about 28 hours a week. My job does deliveries on contract that I can take for some extra money, but I generally don't need to. I live with my GF, but she's the chillest person on the planet and completely approves of vidya as a hobby.

I don't play anything with a ton of DLC or a season pass. I haven't bought into the current gen at all. I'm simply too used to buying a complete game all at once.
>>
>>335479717
dont worry if you literally have no life Vidya is great.

I went through an apprenticeship and wrote applications until hired. Before that, worked all kinds of jobs, at at diner, pizza delivery, supermarket, night shifts at a postal factory. Dunno how things down under work. I suppose getting a qualification can't be wrong either way. If I ever get tired of my profession, I might become a carpenter or smith.

Went to trade school for massage therapy, live with a few roomates and pay about 350 a month with utilities and put about 500 away a month for potential house someday, work 25 hours a week making ~25k a year....flexible work schedule = not having to wake up until 10-1030 most days. Play on average 2 to 3 hours worth of video games daily, could play more but I try to have some sort of social life.

>Married, seven years this year, been going out since we were both 16~
>Both have jobs

It's fairly comfy. We live on the second floor of this house, the landlords live below us, they're a nice older couple. I work 36-40 hours a week, but I still have time for vidya. Days off are usually reserved for chores or shopping or cleaning but otherwise I play regularly.

I don't play many modern games, although I've been going through the Uncharted series since it came with my PS4. Our living room has both our computers and the TV (as well as a tiny CRT with a VCR for old movies). When we get home after work, we usually watch movies/YouTube until bed. If there's a game we wanna play, we do that instead.

My wife usually plays MMOs, fighting games, puzzle games, and really enjoys finding room escape/flash escape games, usually obscure ones from Japanese indie devs that are free. I tend to go with almost any game, and my wife likes to watch me play because they tend to be entertaining. Xenoblade Chronicles X was hard, because the game story/writing went from charming to annoying, and she absolutely hated the chorus of the fighting music and demanded I finish fights quickly to end that song. She really likes Uncharted, mostly from the character aspect.

Currently, I like to play Enter the Gungeon or Darkest Dungeon, since I can usually play quick rounds between watching videos/movies. My wife always cheers me on and it's cool having someone root for you on these more difficult games.

If we're lucky, we can find an MMO to play together. We used to live long-distance, so MMOs were one of the only ways we could really be "together" for a long time.

Okay, that's enough of my blog post.
tl;dr I play short sessions mostly unless a major release comes out that I really want to see.
>>
24 here

worst part about this hobby is that i feel like ive played every game that i could possibly enjoy, and i have to watch beloved franchises from my youth fall apart and die.

everyone always has that one game they play endlessly, making friends and being apart of a community surrounding it, but then it just vanishes.

all these new games coming out have zero ability to do such a thing anymore, don't know if it's just a growing up thing but it sucks.

>exact same deal
>know a lot of people that have done the same

personally I chose to join the military, my grades were terrible and 18 yr old me felt I needed to get in shape

left after a year (basically 2-3 months after basic), but much better work ethic since then. completing my bachelors next year. started when I was 24, 23 was MS entry. So basically wasted one year.

beyond that I just kick back and play vidya with my bro, we both have just realized then when people give us shit for playing too much vidya (mostly jolly cooperation) it's 90% jealousy and 10% concern (he's masters, financial consultant in top company in the country, dgaf still just cares about vidya basically lol)

been a few girls that kinda might have been a go for a gf over the years, but basically they'd always go with "you're like a brother to me" or "you're really nice but I just think we should be friends"

that said a lot of them have had no problem kissing me/playing with my dick on the rare occasion. So I'm pretty sure I'm around a 6/10, super average I'd say.

others have really fucked me over, cheated on their bfs with me. tried to drive a wedge between my best bro of 24 years and myself

I'm at the point now where friends (girls and guys I know) who I've known for many years have turned around and walked away from me. In some cases for nothing more than; you played your guitar wrong in this song. As far as girls go, never ask out anyone's sister. Especially if she's crazy and so is her mother.

Games even if I don't play them as much now are still something I can get absorbed in and have fun with. I don't feel I have to apologize for that, nor is it uncommon at all with young men.

If I had kids or a gf it might be a different story in terms of time put in, but that's not happened.

All anyone can do is try anon. You probably know more people than you think who are 50+ with no gf, no kids etc

It just doesn't come together for some people.

Time to ride out the recession with more retail.

Enough of the blog posting though. For me I have to really want to play a game in order to motivate myself enough to pop one in. I spend too much time feeling sorry for myself that when I end up picking a game up I just stare at the screen for a bit before turning it off and going to lurk.

However I recently got back into Monster Hunter due to hype for Generations. I've been playing that for at least 3 or 4 hours a day for the past week or so. I also have a D&D group I meet up with on Saturdays when we're all free, so that helps break things up. We usually play for 6 or 7 hours.

And now you do not have any freedom because you have to spend 70 percent of your money JUST TO FUCKING SURVIVE.

You think 2000 years on a god damn planet would evolve a system enough to not be about survival.

Wanna get rid of the problems in the world
You seek peoples deepest desires and every single person on the planet will have meaning to what they have done on the planet.
You make society about HELPING humanity all of it instead of JUST YOURSELF and surviving.

There cannot be any true spirituality on this planet till this survivablity is gone. The mind is to focused on surviving and there is no peace to be held in everyone's mind.
Meaning everyone is a slave to eat drink piss and live
Which is the govts fault and secret societies fault.

I tend to play a lot of 3ds and other portable games when I get down time at work. It sucks because I tend to enjoy really long and involved rpgs but I just dont feel like I have the time anymore.
>Do you even enjoy games anymore?
Depends on the stress. I tend to play games as a mild form of escapism, but if im to stressed to immerse myself then it becomes more of a chore then anything else.

and that is lead us to this
"The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the "agentur" of the "Illuminati" between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion…We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time."

As someone who is 38 and has a home, that's a bullshit mindset from the 50's and baby boomer generation.

It was drilled into everyone's head that 'Merica needed to expand and the economy needed to balloon out and that meant everyone being kicked out as soon as they're old enough to produce for the industrial machine.

In most other countries entire generations of families live in the same house. It is more economically sound to keep your family close.

Giving me a labels because you heard the labels from other people to criticize people without even looking at your own god damn selves

I am not anti-society
What they are making you go through is anti-society.
If we want to exist as a society we need to evolve past the survival era or we go back to the medieval era.
I call our society neo-feudalism because NOTHING HAS CHANGED.
Govt is adhered to
Military is right below govt to enforce you
Slave drivers below - If you do not comply with this you die in a gutter!
All your money goes to the top two without you doing anything about it and you stay unfulfilled throughout your whole life
Govt is a good thing
WHEN IT IS DOING the right thing
Govt is the worst thing that it can be in existence
When it is doing what it is doing right now.

26.

I don't play games the way I used. I used to power through single player games all the time but that almost never happens now. There's a lot of reason for that. Internet stuff eats up a lot of my free time in a way that wasn't really possible back in the day, which eats most of my weeknights. I have other hobbies now, namely /tg/ stuff, that take up my weekends. I have less free time in general because I have more responsibilities.

Video games are mostly a social activity now, where I'll play a few hours of fighting games with a friend on the weekend when I can't get together enough people for a board game. Or stuff like Duck Game where you can have a bunch of people together.

I don't think I've played all the way through a single player game this year. I'm not sure when I last did. I know played through Bleed and cleared the Arcade mode, which was a couple years ago I think.

I do spend most of my weekends playing board games with friends, so it's not like I have no free time though.

You know seeing these sorts of connections and cconspiracies here and there isn't you getting something that everybody else doesn't get.

The parts of your brain that works with finding connections and patterns (like seeing a face on a car or what you do when you build puzzles and shit like that) is a bit too good at it's job. It sees patterns where there are none. It's a mild sort of mental disorder that is relatively common. I'm not 100% sure if that's exactly how it works, so if anyone else who is a lot better at this stuff is around, then please help me explain.

Just you watch with trump being president he will revitalize all industries in the USA and modernize everything to be the best they can be.

I know how the world works.
You have people being obedient for green pieces of paper buying items and they are completely under control till they end up in a casket.
Just like every other person that has existed before.
Every item is meaningless the only thing that remains is the memories of the persons who was close to them.
But
Life is made to be about Items which is the lowest form of going through life. LIFE needs meaning. Needs godlihood for all of mankind.
Just because you cannot think of another way to propel society through the aeons does not mean that other ways do not exist.

30 years old here.
i work a full-time job and have two kids ages 6 and 2. i play in a couple of different local bands (bars and weddings and stuff). I also live/work 154 acres. Cutting pine and turning it into lumber; keeping the landscaping nice, etc., working on new projects. I still have plenty of time to read and socialize and play video games. I mostly spend sundays working outside and playing my softmodded wii. I'm playing disaster, xenoblade (which is ridiculously fun and addictive, to me) and the last story, which is a beautiful game in its own right. I'm also a big fan of the ps vita, which has great older games and plenty of steam games i'd rather not play on a toaster.
It's not difficult you guys, I may not play everyday or every week, even, but find yr balance and get outside and read some books. vija is the brain-dead, gambling addiction trigger that has to be itched every now and again, it's not life. just media. and yes, new generation of vija seems like shit.

Same age and situation as you, just different BR city. Dropped college but at least I'm sure that's definitely not what I want to do.

I'm 28, married (as of last year), own my own house as well as a business.

I feel "grown up" in the way that I have responsibilities and am basically set on my path for the rest of my life.

I still play vidya almost every day and enjoy it. My most played games include Neverwinter Nights, Red Orchestra 2, DiRT Rally, and the Souls series.

I have more than enough time to enjoy gaming as well as the rest of my favorite hobbies.

I work from sunrise to sunset almost every day but I love what I do. I squeeze vidya in between working to relax.

So don't worry young /v/irgins you'll have plenty of time and love for vidya if you look in the right places.

I shovel expired peanut butter into dumpsters for a local food services company. The peanut butter is very had and I've devised a way to move it without breaking my back or my shovels in the process. Plus I get to eat whatever peanut butter is still edible from the pile.
