I've been doing a lot of PvP with my Greatsword strength build and I've gotta say the Greatsword is amazing for PvP. Went on a 17 match win streak in a fight club the other day. Was awesome.

Start for what? PvP? If you're starting to PvP just find a build you like and use it, get a feel for the pvp environment, honestly. Learn the movesets of weapons and shit. Then once you have a grasp for PvP try making a build of your own.

I like this sorcery. It's one of the few I think is actually genuinely useful for PvP. It has low FP consumption, can be cast quickly enough to dish out 2 orbs consecutively, and they home in on targets really well.

40/40 with FaP ring, Carthus Milkring, Knight's ring and Dragonslayer Spear +5.
Ended up going 26-2, losing both times to Lorian's Greatsword (that tracking and fire damage fucked my shit up). Dragonslayer Spear is pretty great, abusing the backstep R1 and running R1 with the L2 followup messes everyone up and nobody has lightning resistance so they take extra damage. It's slower than the Estoc and consumes more stamina so I can't stunlock people to death but 2 to 3 hits gets players real close to death and makes them panic so I just poke them as soon as they're about to heal.
What other weapons are good for PvE/PvP? Looking for both dex and strength

There are pvp areas. Go to the Pontiff Sulyvahn bonfire and leave through the doors going forward and you'll find the main one. There should be dozens of red soapstone signs. Another main pvp area is the high wall bonfire.

Also the Cleansing Chapel bonfire has been pretty good lately, just leave a red soapstone sign next to the bonfire and you're likely to get summoned for a fight club.
Only a couple rules; don't use estus flasks and wait your goddamn turn if there is a fight club.

The Estoc is king of PvP. If you want to break the game, use a +5 Havel's shield in both hands (yes, seriously).
Otherwise, pretty much any straight sword is good. GAs and UGS's can be used like the profaned, Astora and BKGA but they're pretty much inferior to straight swords.

I'm currently working on an off-meta PvP build. It's an int spell caster build and the character is named "The Gay Wizard". I'm gonna use the Dusk Crown, Magic Clutch Ring, and whatever other items crank my damage through the roof at the cost of making me one-shotable. I doubt it'll be viable in fight clubs but ohhh man soul streaming someone from a distance will be so fucking fun.

I've never had ANY trouble with Estoc users. I use a Greatsword and a buckler. Whenever I see an estoc user I typically always get a parry on them during their R1 spam because if you parry after the second hit you'll get the parry most of the time if they keep spamming. Then if you have the hornet ring you just 1 shot them right there.

Saw the video, tried the build, can't figure it out. I'm so bad with every weapon that isn't the Greatsword. I used the Greatsword for my entire first playthrough the moment I got it, and then for my first PvP build. I've gotten really good at timing my follow up two-handed R1 to really screw with the opponent since you can delay the follow up for a decently long time.

Main weapon is a heavy corvian scythe, buffing with lightning weapon, as well as a buckler for the fuck of it.
So far my favorite thing to do is invade with obscuring ring, stand just out of visible range of the host and shoot them once in the face with a great bow then watch them roll around confused. good times.Finally scythes aren't useless

its the opposite of the greatsword. The greatsword is all about timing and reading your opponent to hit them when they come to you. In order to use fist weapons you have to constantly keep up the pressure and stay in their face and take advantage of the fact that you can attack like 100 times before running out of stamina.

Havels +5 with shit tons of End is basically impervious to guard break. You can't kick it, you can't guard break it. The only way to get around it is to use elemental damage.

You can farm darkwraith armor and the dark sword really easy at low level, also you can get the dark hand from yuria
Put a raw gem on the dark sword and upgrade it twice. A refined or raw gem is good too if you want to go to areas that are a bit higher SL
If you do the dancer exploit you can also get the knight's ring for +5 strength really easy which doesnt factor into factor into invasions as far as I know
So is there anyway to make a magic build viable. from what it looks like spells are easy to dodge and anything that deals decent damage take 3 years to cast and still miss.

How do people trouble in dealing estoc, running attack washing pole and straight sword in PvP?

Sure they can get the first hit but that's all they get.
After a clean 2 hits they usually back away and that's the chance for you to predict and punish them with the final blow.
I won all my match at a fight club last night for two hours and most of them were using what I mentioned before.
I didn't count how many times I won but I got constantly challenged one match after another.

More often then not I win on the fact that they were closer than they thought, and my R2 thrust gets them on a counter hit, or they make the error of playing to my weapon's strengths.

Thanks for the tip I haven't played against one who could use the stance properly but this is terrifying.
And I don't know if that is a good tip but if your opponent uses a ultra greatsword like that fume sword with smashing attacks use a spear.
They give you a good range advantage and keep you save from blade swings and you can attack while holding the shield up ( but watch out that you don't overdo it or you will get a swift kick and a blade in your stomach).
And always infuse your favorite pvp weapons with different elemental damage to bypass someones 100 phys. shield it's maybe not a lot of damage but it will only get worse if you chip off your opponents health hit after hit just be patient and your foe will die sooner or later.

stance is nice, and gives you some options.
for Straight Sword users the thrust covers a good distance, but for Greatsword it doesn't do that at all. I actually think it's shorter than the R2, but it's more damaging than an uncharged R2, and it's faster than a charged R2 so it fits in the middle ground. It's difficult to land so you really don't have to worry about it.
If you want to deal with the guard break, what I usually do is see the reaction to me simply attacking is. If you always put your guard up, I'm going to use the guard break on you, because your base reaction to guard. Instead bait it. Stance's guard break move actually leaves you open to a backstab if your opponent rolls through it correctly, it's happened to be four or five times. But if you don't roll through it you'll take the damage of the swing.
Another tip. You don't have to be scared of Stomp. If you see the guy go into the animation, attack him, the start up has no hyperarmor and they're easily knocked out of it.
This webm should show both instances of a failed rooll through a Stance Guard Break, and knocking a guy out of Stomp.

You can't infuse it. Basically every weapon in DS3 reaches maximum potential with a 40/40 build. BKGA is arguably the best weapon in the heavy classes (i.e., great hammers, UGS's and GAs).

I'm convinced that the +50% damage to hollows works on players. I've easily been able to outdamage heavy armored UGS users in trades, but some little scamp with little to no armor, but is clearly not hollowed was taking about a third less damage than I was dealing to other people.
It's got options for it's moveset, with a slightly faster two handed r1 set up. The third r1 is particularly fast, and it has the default claymore one handed. I also think it's easily the best looking greatsword in the game.

If a player doesn't cure their hollowing, or their sigil, the Hollowslayer seems to deal it's extra damage.
Because of the way the game is set up (lots of stuns, except for hyperarmor), it feels a lot like it's basically straightswords/rapiers and the biggest weapon available.
When two ultras fight, whoever does the most damage in a trade is going to win.
Weapons stuck in the middle (greatswords, small halberds, etc) tend to just get shit on unless they're fighting a straightsword user who's making a few bad decisions.
A shame, since there's a lot of nice weapons that are just too fucking slow and have no armor.
