One of them was in it for about 14 years.
Though it does bother me to hear the same voice actor for another character, even more so in the same game. Xenoblade Fiora lady for example was both Milfanito and the pyromancer lady in Dark Souls 2. Hawkwood is the magic dude near Logan in Dark Souls 1 too.

I think you can kill any boss to save him if you've completed the other steps.
You get siegward out, meet him in the kitchen, go to dungeon, then if you send greirat before killing pontiff, you must kill some other boss to continue. this is so that you don't pass through where he dies. if you do, he'll be dead there.
Or you kill pontiff, then do these, then you can kill another boss, again not passing through that area. Same thing can be done with patches as well, but then you lose out on siegward's quest.

it's an awful shame the people in dark souls 3 are not as talkative as bloodborne, It seems deliberate though, since bloodborne was more open with it's openly shared narrative structure, I feel that dark souls has gotten overly criptic over the years and that is hampering the amazing talent of the voice actors they use.
