The first few months are the time it'll take for the game to establish itself. I also don't play nearly as much anymore, so it's a reasonable estimate.
By that time Suramar Palace/Emerald Nightmare HC will have unlocked and we'll probably have cleared it at least once, so I can estimate if it'll suck as much for tanks as HFC did.
The biggest issue will be the changes to blood DK. I genuinely lost all faith in the competency of the current design team after all the shit they pulled. They pruned or changed so much crap that nobody ever asked for, while even veteran players from world-first guilds are telling them how awful those changes are.

Stopped playing in earnest during wotlk. A buddy and me had been playing together since vanilla wow and one another's company kept us playing damn near daily. Once he decided to stop playing I kept up for another month and stopped.

Example: one of the new lvl100 ret paladin talents, a spell called Equality. Has 5 minutes cooldown and does 100% of your missing health in damage to up to 3 enemies near you.
And this is a lvl100 talent, something your entire rotation is supposed to revolve around. When people pointed out how useless it was in the alpha thread the Blue the posted some smug shit how "not everything is for min/maxers".
But how is the current spell supposed to be enjoyable even for casual players? For instance, if you'd made Equality a mid-level talent that replaces Lay on Hands. You'd be trading your emergency heal for an emergency big-hitter. The min/maxers would've been happy, the casuals would've been happy and everyone still has 3 viable choices for lvl100 talents.
But they didn't. Instead they came up with the retarded decision to have the talent take up an ultimate slot. It didn't even take me 1 minute to come up with a better solution, yet Blizz's dev-team constantly comes up with retarded bullshit like that and then ignores all the feedback where people tell them how horrible it is.

If we got Pandaria expansion from the 'original' easter egg, that being the furbolg reskin / "you found a secret pandaren rest area!", i might agree with you. But that's not what we got, after that they decided to add to and legitimize the Pandaren and gave a character with lines and a backstory in the campaign mode, as well as a playable neutral hero in the actual game.
Argue all you want about the expansion, but Blizz made Pandaren legit in TFT and as much as you scream contrarian, that won't undo that fact.

It also doesn't help that they can't design a good MMO anymore, they focus so much time on skinnerbox mechanics like ilvl gates, garrisons, daily quests, weekly allowences of loot/gear.
Players should naturally just feel like they want to log in and adventure, this is why WOW is shit, garrisons are just a condensed version of the shit that is daily quest and badge grinding, removing them wouldn't fix anything, the new 'world quest' system is also more skinnerbox mechanics.
Instead of giving us quests and challenging us to actually complete them by get all the require gear and tools together to beat the bosses, like resist gear and attunement quests of old, they just condition us to grind for rewards that become useless every, single, patch.

Equality is the only level 100 that deals personal damage to enemies. That means that for Ret, it is an absolutely mandatory talent, regardless of where it is on the tree. That's a problem, but the real problem is that to optimally use equality, you need to be at 1hp. That's the optimal time to use it. This means that you need to ask your healers to play a game of "Don't Drop the Retard" with your health, which isn't fun for them and is very dangerous to you.
Blizzard responded with "Well just don't pick it them", which shows a STAGGERING misunderstanding of how raiding works. Equality deals damage. For a DPS class, that is LITERALLY ALL THAT MATTERS. DAMAGE. PER. SECOND.

Also speak on behalf of your own experience. I started in late BC, and at the start of WoD me and my guild rushed to 100 and had a huge war at spires with a couple other guilds against a few large horde guilds. Which then spilled over to frostfire because of the rares that drop mounts.
Those were some of the funniest/fun moments I've had in WoW with friends I've known since I first joined, and i'm literally shocked it came from fucking WoD. It certainly didn't last though.

The decision for a new, seperate talent system was not bad. It's the execution and the fact that your weapon is already legendary that's fucked up.

Good mechanics does not make a good raid.
Ulduar was great due to the scale and scope, the fact that even if you beat it there was ways to do it in many different ways to get better loot and more interesting encounters.
It doesn't matter how many times you've retooled the ground fire/debuff/adds systems we've had since vanilla, raids are great by the scale of the fights, and the people you do it with.
Multiple difficulties fucked that aspect, its why Ulduar is highly praised, its the magnum opus of the raid team, since then they've been producing less and less and less content, and copy-pasting shit raids while working on other shit, I.E. diablo 3 and overwatch.

Not really. There was very little meta-game knowledge. Many classes were completely broken. Itemization was a mess. Many parts of the game were blatant RNG (4 Horsemen taunt rotation).
If today's players would start out in Vanilla they'd have no problem doing MC and BWL, even AQ. The average LFR raider today knows more about the game than a BWL/AQ40 raider did back then.

While I completely agree with you about Ulduar spinning difficulty changes was a great design decision although most of the encounter's extra difficulty was predetermined before you even started the encounter. Good mechanics are definitely an influential factor in the greatness of a raid but having great art, music, sound design, lore significance and no mechanics probably wouldn't be too well received.
I only did one light and no raid destroyer but it's definitely more accomplished than my 7/13 heroic I did in ToT and I think ToT is much better designed in every aspect and especially in encounter design and I also liked my raid team better in ulduar, I actually played with them outside of raiding

Raids are shit when they're the only content to do.
What made raids fun was minmaxing your character, working with others to gather gear and encahnts to get stronger and eventually beat the boss.
Raids were supported by the content that superseded it, professions built your resist gear, quests unlocked raids, all of this builds up to finally let you kill the boss.
WOW raids are now a static system of grinding, supported by more grinding.
The adventure is replaced by daily/weekly content designed to keep you playing longer.
Thats artificial difficulty more then anything WOW used to have.

Though the really funny thing is that dual spec gets more and more useless everyday. Dual spec was most vital and needed in vanilla and BC, and was still really great in Wotlk. They have no reason to. Blizz won't put back in old content since the begining. You won't see aids again, or the zombie/elemental invasions, or getting the original ZA bear, or the green judgment set or tons of other things.
Blizz won't bring back legacy servers because they beleive in moving foward. And subs won't drop low enough to care for several more years.
Movie is comming out soon and new xpac always brings a major jump in subs. It won't die for porbably another decade and I expect them to simply let it go full f2p at that point for a few years and then shut it all down.

Well that certainly would force guilds and communities to work together. Especially if it was something to the degree of the War Effort. You could even make it a 25/40 man raid event and all the paladins/whatever class in that raid get the item as opposed to only one person getting the legendary like in classic.
