I wouldn't recommend that. Our dollar is at an all time low in this past decade. Full-time employment is actually pretty hard to come by these past two years for most oil-related profession.
We only do oil extraction, upgrading, and not refining, so crude oil being as cheap as it is hurt us bad.

So, even just through using the desk normally for typing, the desk gets dirty pretty quick. Finger prints are a huge source of dirt, and glass just shows it all the more easier than other materials. This means, you'll probably either be cleaning every other day, or living with a easily visible dirty desk until you do clean it weekly or what have you.
If you in fact are eating snacks, drinking, etc. then it just gets dirty even faster. For drinks for example, you MUST purchase coasters or some sort of thin mat to place on top of the desk so you don't leave any cup rings or scratch the desk. For foods, again same concept you should have a mat. Effectively, you might as well just buy a different table material since you're placing so much mat on the actual glass.
Aesthetically, it makes the area look cluttered when you can see your own legs, wires underneath, etc. A solid one color table will look way more aesthetically pleasing.
I'll probably be moving to a custom wood desk in the near future, I miss having a desk that didn't literally demand more attention than a girlfriend.

This is where clever cable management comes in. I tie all my cables together into a bundle and run them very tightly along the feet and supports of my desk to make cables nearly invisible.
