1. The controls are better than i feared. After a while you get used to the two viewpoints. It's actually a neat exercise in positional awareness. Still need to constantly hit Y to realign though.

I don't know about that, but I have to say, I like the gyro aiming. It feels natural and everything just works. My biggest concern was needing to pay attention to both screens, but even that didn't pose as an issue.

Considering how relatively original the rest of this game is in spite of being a remake, I'm kinda disappointed by the endgame.

Just finished my first run of Zero and I gotta say that the game was really enjoyable. The controls do take time to get around but by the time I finished Area 3 I had the controls down. When I watched videos on the Gyro Wing I always thought that it was going to be ungodly slow but when I got my hands on it it was actually faster and easier to control than I thought it would be.
Regarding the framerate drops the only time I ever noticed the framerate drop was in Sector Gamma when the Missiles exploded.
The walker was handled well and felt like a step up from Assault's On-Foot segments. And the Landmaster's transformation was neat as well.
If I had to knock it down for something, its the following:
1) The alternate paths are pretty much locked until another playthrough. Your first run will pretty much always be the same. I have no idea if you can go to Fortuna on your first run since Wolf shot down Peppy on my first go
2) There doesn't seem to be the planet variety that 64 had. I actually kind of wanted to see how they would have handled a Zero version of Aquas.
Also I feel like there was a missed opportunity for at least one mission with the Roadmaster.
All in all, I give the game a 8/10, knocking it down for the negatives I posted as well as not using this opportunity to continue the Star Fox world but instead just choosing to retread 64.

Zero's exact levels have already been traversed in two previous games, with one or two additions.
It's dated because it's the same fucking game with the same fucking levels, not because they're sticking to the same formula. The same formula would be new levels, new bosses, new story, but same gameplay - not literally applying a new coat of paint to the old game.

After playing Corneria again I can safely say that that is fucking insane. I had a pretty decent run and only got 173. Mind I missed quite a bit during the Falco chase, and I'm still knew to unaimed charged shots.

People are mad because all it does is rehash 64 and 2 without doing anything significantly new. It doesn't help they released 64 on the 3DS.
The problem with SF0 is that it has LESS content than SF64 while playing worse and generally being a rehash of all the same story beats in the original.
They set out to make an updated version of Star Fox and ended up with something worse. That's the real issue; there was a lot of opportunity to build upon the original but in every direction they went in a worse manner.

We didn't lie, we've been calling out shills since day one. This game looked, sounded, and felt like a worse version of SF64, and now it's confirmed that it pretty much is.

And unfortunately, in regards to DLC, probably not. It's not doing so well with critics, and with the casuals hearing most reviews saying "the controls are too difficult" (even though they're fine and the least of the game's problems) it's very unlikely that it'll pick up steam in that market.
Miyamoto also said that while they weren't going to rule out DLC, they weren't planning on it since they were aiming to make SFZ a full cinematic experience without needing any further content.
I'd be madder than I am now, but I already accepted it was going to be a bad rehash - at least Project Guard is actually a damn good game.
